Shaping The Mind – My Thinking Corner

When our mind is calm, our path looks clearer.

Mind, Inspiration, Thoughts, Shaping The Mind, Quotes, Life Lessons

In truth, when we make joy, prayer, giving thanks and kindness a way of life, we are able to handle life’s troubles with more courage, grace and inner peace that surpasses understanding. We are able to share and uplift those around us from a cup of fruitfulness.

This is not just from the mere standpoint of being a Christain and being in touch with yourself spiritually. Just as the powers of one’s body can be made stronger through gymnastics, exercises and healthy eating, the powers of the mind grow in strength and vigour from the training that it receives.

I can’t count how many times that my mind has strayed to things that don’t edify nor enrich my life, but I’ve also learnt to train it to identify triggers and tell it to stop. It may take time, but it’s possible.

In order to train our minds, we don’t need to wait till we can afford to pay gym subscriptions or for perfect conditions before we can start to practice. The power to transform our circumstance whether good or bad is within our grasp. Start today.

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Stay and Hope…

Lovely prompt ‘hope & stay,’  from Ronovan for this week’s haiku. I came up with several versions and settled for these two.

Image result for hope images

Stay. Hope whispered to me.
You will be there sooner than expected.
See how far you’ve come.

Don’t lose hope.
Just stay committed and focused,
you will triumph.

Some Day…

Little stabs of jealousy struck Cody as he stood at the corner and watched Josh and Sam cycle their latest acquisition around the neighbourhood park with such glee,

He envied how they always got the latest and best toys and momentarily, he felt sad and angry that poverty kept his mama from buying any of such things for him. He was tired of their scrounging for food, for hand-me-downs and their broken television.

From past experience, he knew not to ask them if he could join them because they would only laugh and make fun of him. Last time when they were flying a kite and he came closer to watch, Sam made fun of his ill-fitting clothes and oversized trainers and he had walked away red in the face and ashamed.

He really wanted to fit in and he was tired of feeling out of place, but what could a ten-year old do? Maybe if his dad hadn’t died, they wouldn’t be so poor with his mother juggling several jobs. He hoped mama was right in saying that things would get better some day.

Hold It!

I seek my contentment and peace without apologies because it can’t be purchased and it’s so easy to lose in today’s world.

when you’ve been pierced
by the blunt edge of pain
you will know that
the sharp sweetness of joy
is far better to hold
close to your chest.

Posts That Caught My Interest #6

I was reading Danny’s post this morning: I call this surviving by sheer grits. It couldn’t have been easy, to say the least. An amazing journey of survival. Please read.Image result for images of sharing

When the enemy stands by the sidelines waiting for you to fail, you make sure you don’t give him/her the pleasure, hang on by the tentacles and succeed.

A Letter To Someone

Though the letter is fictional I quite enjoyed reading this letter written by Damyanti ‘I’ll be your father’ and here’s my comment below:

What a letter! Blunt yet loving, empowering and liberating. I enjoyed reading this.

Today’s Inspiration

An awesome quote and here’s my comment:

Some would love to hold people’s mistakes over their heads like a sword of Damocles for the rest of their lives.

What’s In A Name?

Grab this quickly. Sally Cronin’s book ‘What’s in a name,’ is available for free; offer ends Sunday 13th. I got me a copy and will be doing a review soon 😉

What do we teach our children?

One of my nightmares in life is the thought of failing to raise my children well. It bothers me. I know that there are no perfect parents and that children will still express their individualities, but it’s alarming when you observe how some parents are not even concerned with the fact that they pass on some nasty attitudes on to their children.
