Gratitude

TODAY…personal thoughts

TODAY is bright and the beginning of the rest of my life. Each day is an opportunity to improve on yesterday and I must make myself accountable for each day.

The fragility of human life has grown even more tenuous these days that I wonder if at the hurried rate hatred and violence is eating into the fabric of humanity if people will grow to ripe old age anymore even with the fact that we seem to be more scientifically aware than ever before? I don’t think so! For it does seem that the more we know, the more tenuous life becomes and it brings it home to me that I have to endeavour to live better each day.

I am a firm believer that God inhabits the praise of his people and I see the pep in my steps when I wake each morning and face the rising Sun in thanksgiving. I have compared my grateful heart to my heart that has often sojourned in a labyrinth of dark emotions and I know the better difference.

I have no crystal ball to show me all that may transpire around me before the day is over, all that I am in a position to do, is to accept the Grace and Mercy given and the Will Power to equip myself with mindful, positive truths and reflections to live my life for each day like a prayer.

I am grateful for a conscious heart, mind, good health and the simple things of life because every other thing is just an addition.

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22

P.S: There are several gratitude/thankful platforms in the blogosphere that you can tune into and get your ithankful going on. I can’t express in words the enormity of Joy and fulfilment that comes from having a heart of gratitude. I like Ronovan’s cheerful prompt ‘Sing & Flower,’ for this week. We really need as much cheer as possible.

My Thinking Corner

Tuesdays Trickles – My Thinking Corner 31

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple. You can check this link for more details.

♦  When you are feeling down, by all means, don’t ignore your feelings, acknowledge and ‘deal with them,’ if you don’t you’ll simply pile them up that one day it becomes an avalanche.

♦  Do not stay down for too long, for climbing out of a rock-bottom pit is far more difficult than falling into it.

With the way life has been, it’s no surprise if anyone feels down, but the hard truth is that it’s probably never going to be a smooth sailing life ever, so except one wants to remain down and rock-bottom out, it’s better to acknowledge the problems especially if you can’t run away from them and begin to apply your own practical and sensible solutions in dealing with those that are within your purview.

It’s just one chance that we’ve got to live this life and we’ve got to keep giving it the best shot.

BEAUTIFUL posts from Deborah and Petra:

Joyful childlike qualities: this post touches me that I have no precise words to express how Deborah’s connection and words about her autistic brother make me feel. Stephen lives life in the present moment with childlike enthusiasm 🙂

Look up: sometimes things may not go exactly as we wish them to, but they only challenge us to look up and see other alternatives and narratives.

Please do step in and share a moment or two. One thing that I have learnt with doing this exercise is that I have always come away far more enriched than I set out.

Short Stories

The Corner…

Silently, he planned his line of action, driving 6 hours non-stop to catch her unawares at the stroke of ten.

He watched the lights of the diner go off for the day. Knowing that her shift was almost over and she would step out for her brisk walk home, he reached into the glove compartment for the piece and rushed to wait for her at the corner of the street.

June stepped into the chilly night, humming as she strode down the quiet street. Turning the corner to her street she bumped into his hard waiting frame. A quick apology rose to her lips just before his familiar cologne curled up to her nostrils and his warm embrace held her still.

‘Hello sweetheart, I couldn’t wait any longer’ Jed murmured close to her ears. Distance was hard on their relationship and having missed him badly, she simply allowed his presence to envelope her surprised senses.

Reaching for the little box in his coat, Jed went down on one knee…

She squealed her happy acceptance. This corner where they met for the first time when he bumped into her two years ago has become a turning point in her life.

Banana Peel Caution – Mundane Monday

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple : find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Banana_peel[1]

The difference between a slippery fall and not falling lay in the cute banana peel caution.

I am glad someone placed it there ‘cos I was clicking away happily on my camera and would probably have been the one to land on her backside if not for the fact that some sensible person placed that cute caution to alert passersby to watch out for the spilt liquid.

Out of the silent breath

Never leave me lonely

With words left unsaid

You walk away into the dark

Like a mist, that melts away.
