Mundane Monday

Mundane Monday – Palm Tree Patterns

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple. Find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Nature is beautiful even in the little details that are overlooked each day, like the overlayed patterns of the Palm tree.

Yesterdays’ Moonlighting Job…

Tuckered out after a busy yesterday spent writing an exam (talk about adult night schooling) and covering a photo shoot and editorial for a customer later on in the day, I am spending a lazy Saturday today.

Let me share a bit of my moonlighting work with you 🙂

Santa in the House as Jump-Boxx celebrates its 2nd-Anniversary.

The best memories of our lives are truly made of those beautiful, little things and happy moments that life brings our way. At the top of these best things in life are the joyous moments spent with our loved ones.

We may not realize these things as they happen because they seem so ordinary, but as time passes by, we only grow to appreciate these wonderful moments in time.

A good afternoon spent yesterday at Jump-Boxx brought childhood memories of Christmas past flooding my mind and as I write this article, reminisce takes me down the lane of those days filled with activities building up to Christmas morning.

You could literally smell the distinct fragrance of Christmas in the changing atmosphere and the cold, crisp morning breeze carried certain excitement in it.

Our parents shopped for toys and lovely clothes for us. Indulgence in eating during this season was and is still common.

Our Christmas gifts always turned up each Christmas morning, nicely packaged and delivered by Santa.

Though I tried many times to stay awake and catch Santa as he made his trip from the North-Pole to our house, alas, I was never lucky enough to catch him. I presumed that I never caught him because we had no chimney that he could slide down in, so he left his gifts at the door and my mother always found them.

We looked forward to the trips to our schools Santa’s grotto back in the days, where our eyes rounded out like saucers in wonder as we looked at this white-bearded, red-velvety garbed robust mystery with his jolly good HO, HO, HO laughter and a twinkle in his eyes as he handed out wrapped gifts that we couldn’t wait to tear into.

Indeed, as I watched the excited children meet a jolly good Santa yesterday at the 2nd-anniversary celebration of Jump-Boxx, a quote from Winnie the Pooh comes to my mind, “We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.”

I enjoyed reading Reena’s brief thoughts.

Friday Fiction in Five Sentences

Turmoil – Friday Fiction in Five Sentences

Image result for a sad woman

Her heart thumped in nervous apprehension once she heard his Ford pickup pull into their drive.

What mood would he be in today? Belligerent? Happy? Drunk?

She just never knew what to expect from one moment to the next…explosive anger or a bouquet of flowers.

Of late, living with him was like constantly walking on eggshells.

On second thoughts and in no mood for any confrontation, she quickly turned off the television and tiptoed off to bed.

Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations – Author unknown

When I want to clear my head, I either take a long walk or a long drive and just admire my surroundings. It gives me room to be by myself, to mull over things and to return with a clearer perspective. It’s actually an indulgence and a source of rejuvenation for me, just to go off and wander.

Most times, my wandering yields total satisfaction.  Issues that appeared so difficult earlier becomes less burdensome by the time I’ve taken them apart piece by piece and I am equally rewarded by the sights, sounds and total experience of being out and about.

I’ve literally stumbled on beautiful destinations while trying to navigate unknown routes during my walkabouts or should I say drive about.

Just on Saturday, I took off to somewhere and got lost, in trying to navigate my way back to the right route, I stumbled across this beautiful waterside with loads of lovely boats and yachts. I parked my car, took several photos, enjoyed the sights and was thankful I’d missed my way 🙂

I’ve equally experienced lots of beautiful results that are the culmination of things that appeared difficult at the onset and the lesson that I take from these experiences is not to be misled by a tough beginning because the situation can turn around and it would end with praise.

The Sojourn

I’ve walked many miles on these feet of mine,

my knapsack strapped on my back and

my hope held within my heart.

Many times, I have no idea where my steps would lead,

most times the terrain has been difficult to navigate.

Countless times I’ve stubbed my toes and fallen to the ground,

bled through my sole, blisters, corns and callous decorate my feet,

But, I can’t, I don’t and I won’t stop going,

for the rainbow in the horizon keeps beckoning and

the breathtaking beauty ahead makes the sojourn worthwhile.

Bernadette and I invite you to join in on our blogging event called The Writer’s Quote Challenge. We have decided to pick up the baton that Colleen and Ronovan have handed off.

We are continuing the same format and here that is: there are no rules to follow. Either make up your own sayings or use a quote from a famous author that you find gives you inspiration.

Each Thursday, we will post the prompt and all you have to do is participate!

On your own blog post do a pingback to this post and make sure to “like” pingback” on everyone else’s post. A pingback is when you embed (or copy) the URL of my weekly prompt into your own blog post.

Make sure to check our weekly prompt to see if your entry is there. You can copy URL of your blog post and include it in the comments section of my original weekly prompt if that works better for you.

Copy the badge above and include it in your own post. Tag your post on your own blog as “The Writer’s Quote Challenge,” so we can find the posts in the reader.
