Midnight Motivations and Musings #55

It’s a natural tendency for us to seek the approval and support of those who we consider our friends and loved ones because no one exists in a vacuum or isolation.

It’s also normal to find that some of those around us may not buy into our dreams or be our cheerleaders. Some will outrightly express their dissension while some may not voice it, but their attitude towards you will show their contrary opinion.

The truth is that the natural inclination of most people is to seek for the difficulties and all the reasons why an aspiration won’t work, before seeking for the possibilities.

One needs to be attuned spiritually to determine whether the criticism or voice of dissension is truly born out of honest conviction and concern for your well-being or whether the naysaying is borne out of envy, automated pessimism.

There is always need to weed out the chaff and keep the wheat. It’s not every opinion that you should pay mind to.

  1. Sometimes, those closest to us feel they will lose us if we succeed. We have to be true to ourselves, our calling, and try to reassure them. The ones who want to see us faith in order to feel better about themselves need to be ignored.

  2. I’m impressed! I think this is one of your best efforts yet… It was worded very well and hits home with me, cuz I take risks on my blog all the time. People with tiny minds abound, filled with hate and prejudice, jealousy, ignorance, and just plain, ugly mean dispositions. I am confident in myself, and have friends like you who support my efforts… It’s worth the exchange 🙂

      1. You’re so right about that! I’ve learned to overcome that stuff. Just wondering what rock they crawled out from under… It’s good to here from you: ‘Health to the system’ ❤

  3. So well-said Jacqueline 🙂 I know I should start finding more synonyms for “so well-said” as I keep using them on your quotes 😀 But they are so relevant and inspiring 🙂 You know , in my earlier days I used to be so confused why the ones dear to us sometimes do not support our dreams and used to feel let-down. Later, I understood with or without their support, my dream is my responsibility and I must be the person to work for it 🙂

  4. I enjoyed the poetic nature to this piece, and the splash of bold to highlight each new line. Your line speaks to me the most. You need to be spiritually attuned as well as have confidence in these situations. And you must have the knowledge that sometimes the naysaying comes without words, but rather in the form of being ignored and ostracized.
    Thanks for an thoughtful piece.

    1. Aww Paula, I hope you are not anxious for nothing. You’ve done this before my dear and the voice of the enemy sometimes wants to distract us from our goals.I pray your spirit is lifted so that you can face the challenge and come out tops. Love and light.
