I have always felt that evenings are meant for kicking back and relaxing after a days hectic job, either with family, doing what families do; eat, talk, laugh, squabble, watch TV, do homework etc.
I would rather close my day reading a good book, or browsing the dailies and just talking off my husbands ears with tidbits of the news.
I also enjoy the quiet time of going through my mailbox or lazily catching up with the blogs, with the sounds of my household in the background.
On days that I feel like stepping out for the night, we could just take a leisurely drive through town, grab a pizza or watch a movie with pop-corn and all the works.
I simply cherish my evenings and due to that, I prefer to do my work in the mornings; bright and early, I am ticking to go and by evening time, I am mentally not in the mood to burn.
The downside with that is that what I cannot get done with by 7pm, gets shoved over to the next day.
It does not escape my mind that there are some whose livelihoods revolve around night jobs.
I truly cannot fathom how they do it, year after year without turning into grumps.
I would go bonkers and probably turn into an ogress – QED.

The Daily Post prompt Because the night.
Are you a night owl or are you the early bird? What’s your most productive time of day? When do you do your best work?
I’m an owl ;P

I am an early bird. I like to start all of my jobs first thing so that I can sit and relax in the evening 🙂

Until I did day/night shift, I wondered other before me did it but I learn you just go with the flow. I do agree with your accompanying image, everytime I get up grumpy after a late nigt, I regret but I do it again, haha. GO figure.

I try my utmost not to go to bed so late, because I know that I will just be a grouch all day and my senses just work in slow motion. Except when it’s unavoidable, then I wing it.

But sometimes the research gets so dope (all of a sudden I have been using that word often) or the story have me hook, haha.

I am an early bird. For me perfect days begin at 4 to 4:30am if I can wake before Hubby and have my special private talks with my Lord. But I do crash in early evenings, fall asleep in front of TV in my chair.
I nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award.

A lovely way to start the day indeed. Nothing like a quite time in grace. Thank you Deborah for the nomination. I welcome your generosity. My regards

Great topic, Jacqueline! Your reluctant early riser here – sort of. I’m the only one in my household (or my neighborhood) up and at it by 04:30. Since my housemates work late night shifts, padding about the house has become my special gift (tricky in a creaky old house :)). However, in the warmer North Texas months I can sit on the balcony with my tea or coffee while the sun comes up over the tree line. After putting in a few hours of work, that enhances my daily prayer and meditation time dramatically. It’s like a down shift from 60 mph! Like @deborahcrocker my evenings too are very brief, especially in our few weeks of winter here. 😉

Wow! I like how you start your days especially in the warmer months when you seat and watch the sun come up. That is simply lovely. Thank you for sharing your morning with me. I practically imagined you padding softly around the house with a few squeaks here and there 🙂

My dear lady, there are simply not enough hours in the day it seems sometimes, right? I was blessed with a nap today…not quite sure how that happened but I won’t complain. It’s the little things that count 😀

Never enough hours lady T so we do want we can. I love those power catnaps. They are very refreshing. Enjoy it whenever you get it 🙂

I used to be a night owl, sleeping through the day and getting things done at night while the world slept. It was difficult fitting into the world like that though, so I became an early bird. I’m so grouchy when I don’t get 9 hours. 🙂

Oh I’m a night owl myself. However, I could not work a night job. Personally, I’d rather rise with the sun and sleep with the moon. But I am most productive when the moon rises. That’s the problem D:
On the other hand, I’m like you Jacqueline, and prefer to be mentally checked out by 7 pm. That’s how I function.
