Give it Time.

Right about now, there could be things in your life that you’re sorely disappointed and unhappy about. Things that are delayed. Things that don’t seem fair. Things that fell apart. Things that hurt. Numerous things…

You have done everything as right as you think you can do them, yet the results are not adding up. You simply don’t understand why things cannot be different for you especially when you look at your contemporaries who appear to have it better.

Listen up, don’t give up hope on your life and yourself. The alternative to giving up hope is too despairing to think about.

Just like time moves forward, keep pushing forward albeit ensure that your race is run with God.
One day for sure, you will look back with understanding and say “now it makes sense.”

Some of these things had to happen. They had to say no; the person had to leave, Judas had to betray Christ, Joseph’s brothers had to throw him nnto the pit; that door needed to be shut; the storm had to pass through etc.

As life is not a linear journey, things often go wrong, before they go right. Even when it doesn’t make sense, God’s hands are ordering your steps, and all things will turn out for your good.

Give it time.

The journey to a happier you.

There are many gateways that lead us to our individual pleasures but there’s only one true pathway to happiness and the track runs through you.

The key that unlocks our happiness lies within us and can’t be found elsewhere. Outer factors may contribute to our state of bliss now and again, such as: recognitions and prestigious awards, salary raise, exciting new relationships, fancy gadgets, weight loss, new home, travelling etc. These things can contribute in making us feel great at the initial stage, however, that buzz and thrill does not last very long as we are quick to adapt to changes and those positive things that made us happier at first fast become our new normal and we return to our previous happiness baseline.

Positive psychology shows that a person can truly increase their happiness and overall satisfaction with life which does not necessarily entail winning lottery ticket or material stuff or some sort of drastic change of circumstances. What it takes, is an inner change of perspective and attitude and this is something that anyone can do.

When we fail to settle down and dig deeper to unlock the essence of who we are, we tend to fill our days with activities, going through the daily motions of surviving and are left feeling listless and dissatisfied with life.

If you feel like this, now’s the time to start searching for the missing link and hopefully, the answer will click. The journey to a happier you can often be lonely but you can improve your experience by surrounding yourself with positive and happy people, value yourself and your relationships, keep the beautiful memories and positive experiences closer in mind, achieve goals and appreciate them no matter how small.

  • Train your brain to be more positive: express gratitude, give sincere thanks to others, find the positive sides of negative events from  your past (not the easiest task but you can reevaluate a negative past event keeping your eye on what you learned or how you became stronger, wiser, or more compassionate.
  • Go spiritual and seek to understand one’s inner life better in order to act more wisely.
  • Nurture and enjoy your relationships: Make a conscious effort to stay connected, invest in quality time with the people you care about, offer sincere compliments, take delight in the good fortune of others, seek out happy people
  • Live in the moment and savour life’s pleasures: meditate, practice mindfulness, adopt enjoyable daily routines, minimize multi-tasking, recollect happy memories and do stop to smell the coffee or the roses.
  • Focus on helping others and living with meaning: practice kindness, volunteer, play to your strength by building your activities around those things that allows you to use your strengths for greater good.
  • Take better care of your health: get quality sleep, eat balanced and nutritious meals, exercise, relax the mind…

We all want to live happier lives and this is possible. I hope that you found this article useful.

Just A Thought For Today…

Image result for mind your own business

Maybe, just maybe when you spend less time minding other people’s business and more time minding yours, you might actually have more peace and make more progress in your life ‘cos when you stay in your lane, there’s less traffic to contend with.

What My Mama Said To Me…17

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
it’s always a waste of your time pulling others down
‘cos you’ll end up beneath them.

Hope · Poetry/Poems · The Daily Post

Steer it up….A compilation of prompts.

sea, waves, boat

Meandering through our days in pursuit of success
with ‘our hope’ the rudder that steers us along

Suddenly a rogue wave rocks our boat
and we lose our balance momentarily

We wonder if we should simply give in,
if we can ever set our rowing right

The fact is that with uncompromising faith in our focus
we can steer over, under and around the waves of life

although our movement may be staggered and messy
and success may look dim in our sight, it waits at the shore.

My target was to come up with a poem using 7 days prompt words from Daily post. I almost abandoned ship, but glad I stuck to it and only 30 minutes later, I like the message that I derived from the compilation.

What My Mama Said To Me…14

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
you know that life might choose
to hand you unwanted baggage;

but

you can choose to stand tall,
straighten your shoulders
and carry them with elegance.

What My Mama Said To Me…11

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
grumbling from Jericho to Jerusalem
is never going to make your dough rise;

not when you’ve failed
to add much-needed yeast
and to give it the required kneading.

What My Mama Said To Me…10

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
there comes a time when
you’ll tell your goat
to stop giving its milk for free,

‘cos a neighbour
used to getting free milk
will never purchase his own goat
instead, he’ll milk more to make cheese.

What My Mama Said To Me…7

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
never gripe and whine about
how heavy your cross is,

‘cos in the warehouse of crosses
you might find that
yours is the lightest of all.
