Midnight Motivation and Musings – A Mouthful of Food

No one gets a mouthful of food by picking between another person’s teeth.

As I sat in a reflective mode of the things that I need to do, this old adage that my dad used to say sprouted in my mind and it was just as if I heard him repeat ‘no one gets a mouthful of food by picking between another person’s teeth.’

We sit and plan for things that we would do in future and sometimes from afar, we look at those who are doing things that we hope to do and the time just keeps ticking by.

We can learn from others, but when we don’t put our learnings and experience to use, it becomes a futile effort.

Someone could take crumbs from their table and give to another, but it would still remain crumbs that are given when the other person is inclined to do so.

This quote captures my recent thought as I thumb through a rough draft of one of my projects, gritting my teeth at the number of pages that needs to be edited. Some days I wonder if I am out of my mind, yet I know that I can’t stop. Stopping would be committing writing suicide.

It’s hard. 

But I can’t throw in the towel.

I would rather throw me

and all the demons

that come out of nowhere

into it.

When we don’t have anything to hope for, then what are we living for?

When we realize that our destiny lies in our hands through changing our thinking, when we realize that so long as we inhabit our bodies and notwithstanding the fact that we grow older, that if we’re mentally, physically and spiritually able, we can still pursue those dreams that brighten our eyes and light up our hearts.

The one thing that we need to help us carry on day to day is hope because with hope there are possibilities. With hope, there are alternatives to our despair.

  • All I know is that when the day is done and you stare at the beautiful, deep orange blush of the Sunset, your heart knows thanks for having yet another opportunity to live a day such as this.

 

  • All I know is that even when you think that all is lost, you must take a second and third look, there’s something to be found.

 

  • All I know is that the quieter your soul becomes, the more truth it can hear in clarity. Search fervently for those quiet moments. Pause the consistent running on the treadmill of life and linger in the meadows for a while.

Plain and Puzzling…

When I saw Ronovan’s prompt for this week’s haiku ‘plain & fast’ I didn’t know where to go with it so I left it and went to brew myself a cup of something to drink.

I don’t know if it’s the cheap cup of homemade Cappucino that I am sipping, but as I stood by the kitchen counter pondering over something that’s being going on in my life in recent days, a thought just whispered into my ear ‘life is plain and simple, but we choose to complicate it and lose finding the beauty in every situation when we are in such a hurry to get past an uncomfortable experience.’ That was my answer right there 🙂

So, thanks to the little God of Thoughts and my cup of Cappucino.
