Nothing creates mystery like the cloak of the dark.
Darkness amplifies suspense and sound.
Even a frog will look princely in the dark. It casts a romantic pall and softens the sharp edges of stark daylight.
For today’s photo 101 theme ‘Mystery and Lighting effect, I couldn’t find the eye of a dog and my neighbours dog wasn’t very forthcoming at looking me in the eyes even after a doggy bribe 😊
Anyway’s I searched in my photos to see if I had mystery lurking around anywhere and I dug up some stuff that I hope are satisfactory.
Today’s theme makes me thank Photo 101 for giving me the purpose to share some of the numerous collections of light pictures that I have taken.
My dear Himself has had to learn lessons in patience when we go out, because I will ooh and aah over this and that, pointing and clicking away with contentment.
Dubai is a trail blazer and a light bulb of a city. They’ve got the lights going in so many ramifications especially at those high end stores, that the twinkle of the lights beckons to us like moths and we are attracted.
It’s as if the luminescent of the bulbs whisper to you to step in and part with some money. The trick is to leave your credit cards at home and take pocket change just in case 😉
Imagine how life must have been in the dark ages before electricity Candles were meant only for the wealthy back then and cost a fortune. For some reason this brings a quote to my mind which says that ‘putting off someone’s candle, will not make yours to shine brighter.’
Even an ogre can look like a prince in the hazy gaze of a dim lantern, but just make sure you get a good look at him in the brightness of broad daylight 😉
Thankfully, the days of our live’s which revolves around light of the day and darkness of the night are made sweeter under the glow of a bright bulb.
In my days spent on Earth, my journey through life has taken me many times in so many directions, away from the shores of bricks and mortar that we called home.
From the Eastern part of my country in my childhood days, to the Western part as a young adult, I set up home in many places, but my heart lay in my parents abode.
That was the way it was until I got married and my heart expanded to accommodate some more.
In my years of matrimony, we have perambulated quite a bit. We have moved across countries and continents; from Africa to North America to Middle East and who knows where next.
In these years, I have consistently learnt to shed myself of material knick-knacks that may not make the cut during any move.
I appreciate creature comforts like other human, my cosy bed, the living room, kitchen and dining, but over these years of sojourning, I have learnt in truth, that bricks and mortar may make a house, but home are those who lie in it.
The fascination that other places and people’s culture holds for me, has turned me somewhat into an Oliver Twist, suffering from the ‘I want some more’ syndrome. When La Duchesse Derat sent out this week’s prompt for TGBOL as Dream travels, I told her that she has got me started on a gallivanting affair.
Having tasted the enriching delight and knowledge that comes from visiting so many places, if I say that I dream of the opportunity to travel the World, would I come across as asking for too much? Nah! Not to me.
Yet the truth is that these dreams don’t cost anything, but brings us so much delight when we do have a beautiful day dream and build candy castles in the winds.
Realistically, I know that these are ambitious thoughts, however, if I had the wherewithal to indulge my wanderlust, I would love to visit:
Morocco
Timbuktu
San Francisco
Vancouver
Czech Republic
A tour of Europe again – I totally love Europe 🙂
Buenos Aires
Bangkok
Budapest
India
New Zealand
And the rest can come after. Ha!
