The challenge is simple. Find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.
Seeing the cute figurine of a white elephant in the room made me chuckle. That’s not a very mundane item but I couldn’t resist clicking.
“Elephant in the room” or ” Elephantin the livingroom ‘ is an English metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is going unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss and a “white elephant” is a possession which its owner cannot dispose of and whose cost, particularly that of maintenance, is out of proportion to its usefulness.
Well, that said, I don’t think the little elephant is such a huge possession, but maybe the owner has other problems that they are not willing to talk about 😉

P.S. Did you get to the blog party? Here’s the link. You can check out lots of other bloggers.
In all my working years and having ventured around a bit, in recent times I will adjudge this place as one of the best office environments that I’ve been in. The open plan office is cheerful and welcoming. Polite, friendly and efficient staff attend to you as briskly as possible. Everyone sits in an open area in one corner or the other. No closed cubicle offices that assign importance to anyone.
Birds flitted about and tweeted all over the place, visitors could play a tune on the grand piano and admire the resident Parrot. Free coffee, juice, fruits, tea and different flavours of ice-cream were on offer at the in-house cafe which is manned by smart baristas’ who quickly attended to your request.
Needless to say, I went away feeling calm, happy and refreshed and I plan to have a reason for a repeat visit sometime soon 🙂
I made a brief stop yesterday to buy Aloe Vera plant at this garden that I discovered and lo presto my wandering feet came across him as he sat in peaceful repose. Of course, I couldn’t resist a click and several more for the road 🙂
Have you taken a photo today? What’s it all about?

P.S. Our monthly Meet and Greet/Blog Party comes up this weekend Sat 27th/Sun 28th August. Hope to see you there.
It’s been on my mind to start this photo practise series and I have procrastinated long enough. I literally fell in love with taking photographs and discovering not just new things from the side of the lens but new things about myself as well.
Like is aptly said, practice makes perfect and each day I’ll present a random shot taken in the bid to perfect my photography skills.
Please feel free to send in your constructive criticisms on how to improve (I am a big girl and can take it – maybe just bawl a bit in the bathroom, but that’s okay 😉
I also welcome you gladly to join me anytime you are able to do so.
Maybe, as time goes on, there’ll be a 30 day’s prompt/theme that can be followed for each month.
For today, I took a snap of this framed quote that I saw somewhere and it rightly expresses my thought.
Now, let me go and get my camera 🙂

The more rare an item is, the more expensive it becomes in some cases like the pot of honey below. Even the savant Pooh Bear will attest to the finest taste of this honey. There’s definitely something about it.
Sidr Honey
Sidr honey from Yemen is the rarest and most expensive honey in the world. Sidr honey is sought after because of it’s exquisite taste, it’s health benefits as a natural medicine, and it’s even known as a powerful aphrodisiac. The demand for real Sidr honey from Yemen is so high that it is known to sell for up to 1000$ per Kilogram and if one is not careful to purchase from the right sources, they can be sold the fake product.
Rare Coins
Money has evolved in value over centuries but coins still retain their basic round shape. I wonder what the real cost of these coins found at an archaeological site in Baghdad will be.
Gramophone
A year ago, I saw this grand lady sitting in a corner of a hotel ballroom, whilst music floated through the speakers of the modern CD player. I closed my eyes and imagined the fine & country classics that breezed through the gramophone and the nicely dressed gentry to twirled and twisted to the jives 🙂
On Thursdays, I share pictures about ‘Echos of my Neighbourhood.
I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple and you can find out more about it through this link.
It’s Dubai Summer Surprise (DSS) time and there are little pockets of delightful free shows going on at different locations of the town.
It’s been an entertaining respite to enjoy stumbling on the freebies here and there without parting with my cash. 😉
Watching the twist and contortions of some of these artists was painfully satisfying. I wonder how they do it?
The photos above were taken at Mercato Mall. A pretty mall with lovely ambience and eye-popping beckoning displays that can put a nice dent on your card. I oh and ah over them as I admire the items and move on. I can be a cheapskate a lot of times and that’s just fine with me 😉
