Row, row, row your boat
gently down the stream,
merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
life is but a dream.

Humming this childhood nursery rhymes made me think beyond the words of the rhyme in a way that I had never thought of.

Life is certainly a dream and your dream is what you make of it.

When you wake up to life, life will surely wake up to you.

Staring at that boat – called life, with your hands in your pocket won’t get it across the seashore; you’ve got to start to row the boat of your life diligently.

Grab your oars.

Quit carrying that baggage of guilt

it ain’t gonna buy you redemption.

Quit holding on to other people’s criticism

they have their own issues to deal with and ain’t perfect themselves.

Quit seeing yourself as not enough

nobody else can be you or as enough as you

Quit comparing yourself to others

your goal is to compete with yourself and be better than you were yesterday.

Quit bemoaning what yesterday could have been, it’s gone!

Look up to today and make it the damn best that you can.

Quit worrying about the future

when you are not done with admiring the present.

Quit holding on to your expectation of others,

it doesn’t belong to you and letting go will bring you peace.

Remember that though we are in this life together, your track belongs solely to you.

Bloom on the rocks – Mundane Monday

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple. Find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

In my usual meandering, I came across this blooming plant sitting on top of the rocks and a thought crossed my mind.

We should see the rocks in our path as our stepping stones. That way, you can bloom where you are planted because love can grow even among the hard rocks.

A nondescript plant became a little lesson in nature and life.

Unfortunately, it was a bit steep to go up and since I’m not much of a rock climber, I admired it from below.

It kept flitting around me in a pesky manner.

My initial desire to swat it was overtaken by the desire to take its photo.

After a patient wait on the fly, it finally perched on the shadowy wall. Luckily my camera was within reach and I took a quick shot.

After the photo shoots, I didn’t mind its peskiness as much.

Sometimes we are so down that we wonder when it would all end. When would our climb through the valley get to the mountain top?

The truth is that all that time spent at the bottom helps you to develop the muscles that will take you to the top and when you do get to the top, you appreciate the climb far more.

Hold on tight to your rope whatever bottom you may be climbing out from. It may happen sooner than you think.

Most times where we are is not where we belong and to get to where we need to be, we must restrategize and keep pushing.

Sometimes life if like playing a game of chess. You must not rest on your laurels and take your opponent for granted. You can’t afford to tip your King before the battle is over because life continues till the last moment.

Your opponent in your life could be your complacent approach to life. It could be a bag of mixed factors that only you can identify and deal with in accordance with your aspirations.

You’ve got to keep holding on and nudging up to where you belong. You’ve got to take those adventures in life to truly find your sweet spot.
