Land Under Water: a beautiful song dedicated to flood victims. Hearing it for the first time 🙂

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Riverstone…Ronovan writes haiku weekly challenge

For some reason, the pair of words ‘River & Stone’ that Ronovan gave us for this weeks’ haiku brings thoughts of possibilities to my mind.

♦ The afflictions that life brings us are like furnaces of refinement, that purifies the afflicted.

♦ To experience harmony, we have to accept our painful past experiences as pebbles to climb up higher to the light.

When I took my eye’s away from the mess of the pain that the harsh experience of life brought my way, I started to see the message. At a first glance, it may look too hard and insurmountable, but you should look again and again. There’s always a better possibility.

The dragonfly lady – A click a day.

PicsArt_08-30-08.33.01[1]

She strolled past me, a better part of her visible body covered in tattoos. I caught sight of the Dragonfly on her back and giving in to my curiousity, I  walked up to her, said hello, complimented her dragonfly and engaged her in a brief conversation.

Her body art serves as a cover for scars from injuries sustained in a car accident. She asked if I thought they were too much and I said no, that I could imagine the tattoos were prettier to look at than the keloids.

She smiled, stood still and obliged me with a photo 🙂

I did a little research on the dragonfly and found this information:

In almost every part of the World, the Dragonfly symbolizes change. Change in the perspective of self-realization. The kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

I may never come across the Dragonfly lady again, but I’ll remember the warmth in her eyes and the pleasure received from the conversation.

Short Stories

Jane…

Like clockwork, Chris and Wolf went for their morning jog.  One of the beauties of living close to the seaside was to watch the sunrise and sunsets above the waters. He loved the lifestyle his writing life presented, thanks to the success of his thrillers, though his was a lonely life.

Familiar with Wolf’s beach antics of sniffing at the crabs, digging through washed up debris, he wasn’t’ surprised when his Husky took off in excitement down the beach.

Within minutes, Wolf raced back, his insistent barking aroused Chris’s interest. The mound on the pebbles was an unconscious, female form. He quickly turned her over and administered CPR. She vomited, opened her eye’s for a few seconds and passed out again.

Glad that his home was close by, he carried her to his house to get her warm as quickly as possible and to call for help. Removing her sodden clothing to wrap a blanket around her, he saw the beautiful, antique watch nestled between her breasts and out of curiosity, he lifted the watch and saw the name inscribed at the back. It read, Jane.

Mundane Monday

White Elephant in the room – Mundane Monday

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple. Find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

PicsArt_08-29-12.04.14[1]

Seeing the cute figurine of a white elephant in the room made me chuckle. That’s not a very mundane item but I couldn’t resist clicking.

Elephant in the room” or ” Elephant in the living room ‘ is an English metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is going unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss and a “white elephant” is a possession which its owner cannot dispose of and whose cost, particularly that of maintenance, is out of proportion to its usefulness.

Well, that said, I don’t think the little elephant is such a huge possession, but maybe the owner has other problems that they are not willing to talk about 😉
