Mundane Monday

The Portrait of A Fly

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple. Find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Fly, photograph, beauty in mundane things

It kept flitting around me in a pesky manner.

My initial desire to swat it was overtaken by the desire to take its photo.

After a patient wait on the fly, it finally perched on the shadowy wall. Luckily my camera was within reach and I took a quick shot.

After the photo shoots, I didn’t mind its peskiness as much.

Midnight motivation and musings

Midnight Motivations and Musings.

Inspiring quotes, hold on, motivation, life, success

Sometimes we are so down that we wonder when it would all end. When would our climb through the valley get to the mountain top?

The truth is that all that time spent at the bottom helps you to develop the muscles that will take you to the top and when you do get to the top, you appreciate the climb far more.

Hold on tight to your rope whatever bottom you may be climbing out from. It may happen sooner than you think.

The Daily Post

Every Little Moment…

swimming duck, photograph

I sit on a bed of sand
aware of the time ticking by
nothing but the desire to empty my mind
I simply watch the waves roll by.

I stand under the drip drops of the rain
aware that the drops are soaking my hair
I couldn’t care less and stick out my tongue
to gather a couple of rain drops.

Every moment mustn’t be spent
running after ever elusive time
but being aware of the moments matter
and enjoying every bit of it counts most.

Shadows are silver linings. You should have no fear of them because when you have a shadow, it means that you are standing in the light.

Echos Of My Neighbourhood

Glimpses of Lagos – Echoes of my Neighbourhood

This week found me in Lagos, Nigeria. Life has been on the fly and fun as well. Below are some photos that were taken on the go.

There’s no place quite like Lagos. Love or hate it, it seeps under your skin and leaves deep impressions that will always stay with you.

It’s a boisterous city filled with the poor and the extremely wealthy, shanties and mansions, the good, the bad and the downright ugly sides of society.

Lagos is Lagos and well-deserving of a full post that I will explore sometime soon.

Catalonia presented by Lady Lee looks like a lovely place to explore. Don’t you just love the fact that there are so many places on Earth to visit? My travel list is ever so long 😉

If you would like to participate, the challenge is quite simple and you can find out more about it through this link.

Writers Quote Challenge

All New Writers Quote Challenge Prompt

‘Our love is like the misty rain that falls softly, but floods the river.’ African Proverb

In little drops,

your love penetrates

it wears down my inhibitions

it breaks down my suspicions.

In steady flow,

your loving motions

grant me buoyancy

taking me to places I never knew.

In rocking rhythm,

I learn how to love

floating beside you

we make a beautiful song.

Gratitude

Tomorrow is Pregnant…

picsart_02-08-08-06-011

Trying to blog on my phone is a trying affair, to say the least. I haven’t sat down for more than a few minutes since I got to Lagos because I’ve got a lot to cover in just a few days. Lots of family and friends to see, laughter and gossip to catch up on.

I can’t believe how the days are flying past. I just boarded the plane how many hours ago on Sunday and now it’s Wednesday with only two more days to spend here.

I feel happy that I came and yet sad at the same time. Lagos is still my Lasgidi, though it seems as if things have been at a stand still with the poor government that has done its’ best to keep its people in poverty.

The wonderful thing about this place is the resilience of its’ people. The larger than life attitude towards life that they possess.

I am thankful for this opportunity to visit home once again. For family and good friends. For an epileptic light and internet service, bumpy, dusty roads 😉 it’s all good.

It is said that no one knows what tomorrow will bring and according to my people, we say that ‘tomorrow is pregnant and also backing a baby.’

Therefore, be wholly thankful for today that you have with you. There’s always something to be thankful for.

Just A Thought

Just A Thought

If you don’t promote your craft, no one else will!

No matter how cheesy this might sound, it’s the truth.

Artists are the first to put themselves down and don’t place value on their own worth.

I guess that’s where the phrase ‘hungry artist’ came from.

Brilliant set of people who choose to stay hungry 😉

There’s a difference between blowing your trumpet – which by the way is allowed, so long as you are not too noisy with it – and managing your skilled craft.

P.S. Have you checked out this opportunity to get paid for your creations?
