Building Better Connections

To build better connections for your blog, it’s far more expedient to spend a little time a day to read and comment on several blogs that you follow, than going through hundreds of them leaving your likes and Gravatar on a consistent basis like a sticker.

Your comments leave a more valid impression behind. It’s a painstaking and time-consuming affair, but worthwhile in the long-term.

Remember that people follow people – they essentially follow the perceived personality behind the blog, even when the blogger is anonymous – and not necessarily the website. It’s the connections that form the backbone of your blog and those few minutes spent commenting builds a bridge to networking.

    1. True that. I know there are days that I am pressed for time and rush off just clicking the like button, however, there are some bloggers that for as long as I’ve blogged all you ever see them do is run all over the place clicking like buttons on 10 posts in 50 seconds. How is that possible?

  4. Totally agree. We write on our blogs because we want people to read what we write. I believe blogging is a two-way street. I’m interested in what others have to say. As I get more followers, I try to follow back and read what others write.

    1. Couldn’t agree more! ALthough I am guilty of just clicking ‘likes’ when I find myself time poor. I figure it at least lets the blog owner know that I’d visited. My wish is for more choice in the buttons though. Sometimes it’s hard to click ‘like’ on a post that is about sad or bad stuff. Perhaps an appreciate button ?

      13. There are days when we are all short of time and we simply click the like to indicate our presence, but it’s not something that you make a habit of Raili. You always leave valuable comments behind. There are some bloggers who all I’ve ever seen from them everywhere they go is just their like and Gravatar.

  5. I completely agree with you. It feels like a commitment to me, to take the time to read daily, most of the blogs I follow and leave my thoughts as many times they come to me, upon reading. And I truly appreciate when people intend to follow me because they like something in my work.
