Aging is an annoying house guest
Who is forever engaged in a quest
He visits without prior behest
And stays put beside you in your arm rest
He has a way of getting your address
Even if you move places so he can’t keep abreast
An inevitable visitor who seeks to divest
All youthful zest even if you do protest
He arrives with a large travel chest
Filled with lots of odious screen tests
Doing his darned best to keep you under house arrest.
By the time he leaves, there’s nothing left but eternal rest.

The Daily Post Prompt inevitable.
Aging? It’s all in the mind. Some people are child like into their nineties, don’t you think? You are right about the screen tests. Doctors order them for a reason!

As child like as appearances may seem in old age, it still catches up with us and takes us away eventually.

You certainly captured the inevitability of aging Jacquie. Excellent response and a great title 🙂

This is so powerful. I think to some degree we all try to run away from aging but it always catches up, doesn’t it? You’re such a brilliant writer. Xoxo

Jaqueline this is a wonderful and creative presentation of the Daily Word prompt.
I think old age (I’m glad you made this unwanted visitor a he!) leaves behind him either eternal rest, or eternal turmoil – depending upon where our spirit beings will spend eternity. Thank you for this lovely post. I love the wonderful image that you’ve used too!

He, he! The menfolk won’t like it, but think of it, if man is in the image of God, it follows that the alter/death should also be masculine 😉
