Naturally, like every erring human I have had many moments of taking the wrong turn in my life and making the wrong decisions over big and small things, such as eating that extra slice of pie, over spending and buying something that wasn’t really important, saying something that I shouldn’t have said, letting an opportunity pass by etc.
It’s all about choices and at each point in time, good or bad, we made choices that we felt were the best for us at that point in time.
Since some of these are not things that we can rewind the hands of time to change – the way forward would be to assimilate lessons from the experience, leave sweating it and move on.
Change the things that are within your power to change and leave those that you can’t regurgitate back.
Living in the Land of Regrets is truly waste of one’s reserve energy and time.
I leave you with these quotes to ruminate over:
- ‘Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy; you cannot build on it; it’s only good for wallowing in.’ Katherine Mansfield.
- ‘You mess up sometimes, don’t regret your mistakes, fix them and you will learn from it.’ Stanisha Wray
- ‘It’s never too late to be who you might have been.’ George Elliot
For the quotes challenge invitation, I thank Perfect The Days for the invitation, and would like to invite the following awesome bloggers to participate in the 3 days, 3 quotes challenge.
No pressures at all to do so. Just do it if you can.
The rules are:
- Post 3 Quotes on 3 consecutive days.
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Nominate 3 other bloggers on each day of challenge.

This is very true. Took me long enough to stop wallowing. Now most of these choices turn into funny blog posts. It’s definitely not worth sweating it.

Deb my there, I am in that process myself. Some of us take a little longer to wallow and heal about certain things, but all in all, it’s not worth the sweat wasted.

The George Elliot quote is one of my favorites. Thank you for a wonderful reminder to not sweat the stuff we can’t change and just keep going!!

I love that quote with a passion. It helps me to realize that I don’t have to despair over lost time, but to focus on the time that I have now and get what I need to do done 🙂

Reminds me of Scarlett O’Hara too- Tomorrow is always another day.
There are more mistakes to make, new things to learn or unlearn and look forward to.
That is what life is all about.

I have watched Scarlett so many times (in gone with the wind) I simply love her gumption 🙂

And in the book too- I loved it. That is a true classic and a tribute not to eternal love but to the indomitable spirit of a woman, who survives.
I truly admired her and never criticised her for her “decisions”- they were right for her at that time.

A timeless classic! I never judged her even for a split second.

Not five minutes ago I was thinking of a wrong I can’t right. It has made me less arrogant.

Dear Beth, there’s really so much that we can’t put right. I guess we just learn better from it.

We all mess up, but as long as we accept it and move on, then hopefully it won’t be too hard a lesson learned.

Nice post. I refer to those wrong turns in life as U-turns. You err, it’s the wrong way, you turn around, and hopefully you learn from it.

It’s very interesting you should say that a lot of Christians I know are full of regrets and guilt it’s good you are crippled by it.

Eric I have had my battles and my share of guilt, but sincerely speaking, I don’t believe that God works that way, holding grudges against us. If he wanted us to be perfect, he would have made us perfect. He wants us to learn and grow from life’s journey. You are right though, a whole lot of Christians do tie themselves to the stake.

I think it can be more about church control rather than chrisitaniny

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.
