Take A Chance On Love…

I aspire to be an old man, with an old wife, laughing at old jokes from a wild youth – Atticus

Loving him
was risky,
but
it was
a chance
she chose
to take
and
40 years
going on,
she has
never been
happier.

Short Stories

Chunky monkey…

Angelas‘ brisk steps slowed down to shorter strides as she tussled with her mind to stay focused and not to give in to the nudging temptation, but by the time she had walked a few more yards, her taste buds desire gave up on the battle with her mind and she quickly retraced her steps back to funky munky, promising herself all the way that after the treat she would resist future temptations.

Savouring the burst of sweetness that hit her senses, she closed her eyes in delighted appreciation of each sip of the trademark chocolate combo drink and chewy chunks of chunky monkey.

Satisfied with her quick, sneaky indulgence, she silently chastised herself for not sticking to the plan and got up to leave, only for the door to open and Tim her diet partner and husband walked in.

They both stared at each other in chagrin and burst out laughing sheepishly.

You are my home…

Sweet husband of mine,

You touch me in the depths of my being
in ways that I can’t sufficiently express.

The communion of body, mind, and soul
experienced with you by my side
always makes me know that I’m home.

Saying that I love you is so paltry;
I adore you and would be lost without you.

Jacqueline writes from her heart on passion, pain, suffering, loss and LIFE. I have been incredibly moved by her poetry and I know I will return to “Out of the Silent Breath” again and again.

I absolutely love this book of poems. My favorites are “Love Rations” (for those who love to give the silent treatment) and “Beggars Supper” (which definitely pulls at the heart strings). Two thumbs up!!

Its a Hardworking Love….

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Yin to My Yang.”

Good relationships

There are no perfect relationships! They all require some modicum of work!

Some relationships are fantastic, some are marginally okay whilst some are an absolute lesson in “who not to be with” and probably meant to be tossed into the garbage can.

The term soul mate is a misleading concept that hints at perfectionism, which is not a word that can be ascribed to any human.

We all are works-in-progress, who spend a better part of our lives trying to figure out who we are and this process cascades down to everything that concerns our lives. ”There is always room for improvement.”

That said, The Yin and The Yang of soul-mating, are those parts in our relationships that keep chipping at each other, until their rough surfaces are smooth enough for the jigsaw puzzle of our characters to blend in seamlessly, or, alternatively, they chaff at each others bits until the edges are so jagged and worn out that ”would be” Soul mates become Stab mates.

It’s a reciprocated effort.
