Bring The Sunshine With You – My Thinking Corner

Kindness is a gift that gives back. When you extend a kind hand to others, you extend it to yourself – Jacqueline

Today, look for little opportunities to be considerate to others. If you are driving, allow others to enter the traffic queue. If at work, ask a colleague who looks stressed if they need your help.

Remember that though we all want to change the world, we first have to initiate little changes around us. If there is any kindness that you can show or something good you can do for any fellow being, do it as you may not meet that person again.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. ~ James Matthew Barrie

In the present

there is abundance,

there is joy,

there is  favour,

there is divine,

there is mercy,

there is grace,

there is peace,

In the present

Undeserving Grace…

Abundance Grace, Quote, Life, Poetry

Each day I affirm to myself,

that I’ve been given a life of abundant grace.

I got tired and choose to stop hiding under a bushel of abuse and shame,

I got weary of bearing pain, self-doubt, dejection;

depression and all the thousand emotions that have no name.

He told me that my life is a treasure,

that I’m called by name and a gift to my generation.

He said to me;

Arise and shine for a lighthouse has no choice but to shine its light

and to quit living under the heavy millstone.

He untied the binding tentacles of the quagmire enmeshing me

and made me know that my life has a purpose.

He said, daughter, you have been released

For I came to set the captives free.

For Tranquility…

Tranquility, Peace, Harmony, Island, Life, Quotes, Inspiration

Day by day I learn to see that new every morning is the Lord. My waking and uprising proof, for through sleep and darkness I’ve been safely brought and restored to life, to power and thought.

I woke up this morning with a sense of tranquility that I can’t even explain – not as if I’ve won that lottery yet. Not as if I don’t have many perturbing issues plaguing me, not as if there are not enough things to worry about in the World, yet I have tranquility.

I made up my mind that my days are far too precious to waste sweating all the small and random stuff. I chose to leave as many dramas as possible behind and get on with living a life, for my life is meant to be lived and not endured.

I choose to be thankful for everything even when there seems to be so much to fret over and so for today, I am thankful for tranquility. I feel an excitement bubbling inside me. I have no idea why or what the reason for it is, but I feel good and know that today is a good day.

Be blessed.

Abundance of Grace

picsart_10-26-07-14-591

When I was a little girl, we would match to the beat of the school drum in our pinafore’s, singing in our high-pitched staccato voices ‘the day is bright, it’s bright and fair, oh happy day, a day of joy, the day is bright, it’s bright and fair, oh happy day of joy.’

The little girl in me has been humming this song each morning these past few days. Our weather is getting lovelier by the day. It’s no longer a melt in a puddle, burnt to bacon crisp temperature and I am so looking forward to making the best of this season.

The fact that nature blesses us with such respite is totally wonderful and yes, coupled with the fact that finally, I’ve launched my self-hosted blog, I feel light, merry and grateful.

I am fully aware that there are those who have multiple blog babies and quite frankly, I wondered how they kept up with all that and the rest of their lives with ease, but what each day teaches me is that once you set your heart on achieving something and you ask for the grace, it shall come in abundance.

Shall I tell you that my heart is filled with gratitude? Indeed it is! I didn’t expect the amount of support that I’ve received from you – my friends – once I announced that I’ve launched. You are truly an awesome community. Thank you.

When we ask, not only do we receive, but our abundance shall overflow.

When I am Fifty…

When I was twenty, I thought thirty was old,
then I became thirty and it wasn’t so bad.
Lo Presto! Forty came calling and looks good on me,
that now I realize fifty isn’t old at all.

I realized that age flies and are only numbers when you count,
‘cos these numbers don’t depict the essence of who you are
and the miles you’ve walked in life.

I’ll embrace fifty when it does come round
with grace and a lot of gratitude
for to age is a blessing
that many don’t live to see.

We Never Know…

On Wednesday an Emirates plane crash-landed at DXB tarmac and burst into flames. Thankfully, all 300 passengers made it out alive but it was all so surreal to me.

It felt surreal because less than half-an-hour before the incident occurred, I had just picked up my husband from a long haul 19hrs flight from the US where he went for an Award ceremony – he’s also an award recipient. As we watched the plane blaze on television, I couldn’t even imagine the horror the passengers must have felt when they knew that their plane was going to crash-land.

It dawned on me that though a minute might seem so small, a minute can change everything. Things that we take for granted like a loved one saying, “see you soon,” just the way my husband did before he boarded his flight in NewYork, might very well be the last words exchanged forever.

It drew it close home to my mind that not only should we live fully in the moments that we are given – not just existing, but love living and never fail to let those who are dear to us know how we feel about them. I am not trying to sound like a prophetess of doom but to face the reality of the life that we live.

I am grateful that the crashed plane’s situation was contained and well managed. I am grateful for my husband’s safe return even as I watch him reschedule his travel plans to Lisbon since all flights from Dubai have been suspended in the interim. I hold onto hope that as Grace kept him and brought him home safely, journey mercies will also proceed to Portugal with him.

Let us never forget that a thankful and grateful state of mind is to have a great attitude and a whispered prayer that keeps our earnest hope bright in our hearts.
