Dark Secrets…

secrets, closet, poetry

Dark secrets you buried,

light unearthed it;

skeletons in your closet

refuse to stay forgotten,

they rise, they rattle;

their whispers reach out

and sends chills

deep down

to

your marrow.

So Whispers My Soul…

Balance, Peace, Calm, Life, Making It Work

Sometimes hurting sits like a heavy rock that sinks your spirit,

sometimes pain leaves tracks wider than a railroad,

sometimes despair runs so deep that it seems bottomless,

sometimes giving up becomes a relief that beckons so softly;

……

Those times when life has become such trying tedium,

that getting through each day seems an untold hardship,

I hate to offer platitudes that this too shall pass,

but my soul whisper to yours, don’t you ever give up!

……

Words I share with you, I share with myself,

the encouragement that I give you, I give to myself,

for I’ve found that whoever we are and wherever we are from,

we are all the same balancing our struggles on this journey called life.

Don’t give up on today, you have no idea what tomorrow has to offer. Just wait and see

What My Mama Said To Me…12

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
you can’t stand on the ground
and be pointing up at the ripe palm nuts,

You must be willing
to get your fingers stained with oil palm
in order to enjoy its succulence.

By Day…By Night…

By day,
she casts away
the burdens of her ordeal
through the flow of her ink

By night,
she goes back
to live her nightmare
in the silence of the dark

Take A Chance On Love…

I aspire to be an old man, with an old wife, laughing at old jokes from a wild youth – Atticus

old-people-couple-together-connected

Loving him
was risky,
but
it was
a chance
she chose
to take
and
40 years
going on,
she has
never been
happier.

What My Mama Said To Me…11

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
grumbling from Jericho to Jerusalem
is never going to make your dough rise;

not when you’ve failed
to add much-needed yeast
and to give it the required kneading.

My heart is wild

and too restless

to stay content

with insipid passion.

What We Love…

Letting Go, Love, Happy

whatever we love
may be taken away from us
in a fierce way
at any moment in time,

but the loss of what we love
belongs to us
and its presence
can stay with us forever.

What My Mama Said To Me…10

Wisdom, Mother Knows Best, Proverbs, Mother and Child

Mama said to me, baby,
there comes a time when
you’ll tell your goat
to stop giving its milk for free,

‘cos a neighbour
used to getting free milk
will never purchase his own goat
instead, he’ll milk more to make cheese.

Why We Cry…

Crying, Pain, Emotion, Heart, Eyes, Sad

we cry,
not for what
our eyes see;

but for
the pain that
our heart knows.
