Accumulated Points…Streams of consciousness Saturday.

I love accumulating points or funds in the kitty and watch it amount to something that’s useful later. I also have favourite things such as books that I tend to hold on to but over the past few years, due to our moves from Continent to Continent, I have learnt to minimise my pile by giving them out and the thing is that once I’ve given something away, I don’t miss it. socsbadge2016-17

A number of times, I have been privileged to use the points accumulated from my travel miles to purchase a treat for myself from the flight’s tempting catalogue without paying a dime extra and the feeling from such freebie is totally awesome 🙂

As a thrifty spender, I keep my eye’s peeled for great bargains on food stuff because a penny kept, is a penny saved and the accumulation of those pennies come in handy. On Friday I used the 50 Dirhams (14 dollars) bonus credit that I accumulated from previous purchases to buy 2 dozen oranges, some strawberries, mangoes and grapes; the fruits tasted extra good 😉

Naturally, it’s a challenge to accumulate anything because it takes time and patience to build up anything and this equally applies to the finer points of human relationships such as trust.

The only thing I don’t fancy accumulating is stress, anger and lest I forget ‘weight.’ 😉 I’d rather address an issue that’s getting on my nerves and move on rather than to keep ignoring it until it gets too much and all that accumulated emotion comes bursting out one fine day.

Such an approach of storing up negative emotions tends to lead to overreactions and it takes just mere minutes to tear down that which has been built over time.

Comic relief – WQWWC

By the time I’m done living, I want my entire being to be thoroughly engraved upon with laughter lines of hilarious moments stumbled upon. Jacqueline

Truth comes out in moments of laughter and real life circumstances serve as fodder for comedians who turn them into amusing anecdotes with the underlying truth nicely or sometimes not nicely veiled.Image result for images for comedy

I certainly love a hearty laugh for life can get too serious at times but there are times that we’ve got to be truly mindful of things that we laugh at, for not everything is a source of comedy. Crass jokes about rape, molestation et al are distasteful, to say the least.

I enjoy searching out good funnies every day and laugh till tears run down my face. My husband and I get to share jokes that we find and that also serves as a warm moment for us when we are together 😉

On the other hand, if not for the seriousness of the issues at hand, the state of the World politics has become a comedy of sorts. The political commentaries have been thoroughly entertaining to read and watch and beneath the deluge of opinions that everyone seems to have, the truth lies somewhere.

I prefer comedy without the tragedy

for laughter is a sweet melody to the ears

and rhapsody that enriches the soul.

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Riverstone…Ronovan writes haiku weekly challenge

For some reason, the pair of words ‘River & Stone’ that Ronovan gave us for this weeks’ haiku brings thoughts of possibilities to my mind.

Life rebooting…Streams of consciousness Saturday.

A mundane thought or activity can sometimes spiral into deeper reflections that send my ruminations roaming deeper.socsbadge2016-17

Getting the children set for school resumption and giving them a pep-talk led my thoughts down the path of wondering how difficult it is to turn your life around when you’re floundering.

The vacation made us all laid back and now that schools are about to reopen the holiday stamp has to be taken off rapidly and our minds rebooted to embrace change once again.

We’ve grown used to the lazy lounging and taking things slow over the course of the past two months that I recognise that the following week will be a bit hectic before we adjust once again, which brings me back to the thoughts of changing a life’s course from a misshapen route; which is not an impossibility to achieve.

Yes, it’s tough to reboot a life and it requires a lot of discipline to turn your boat around or to even accept that you’re going on the wrong path, but there comes a time when that voice in the depths of your being is no longer knocking subtly at your subconscious, but its’ banging loud and clear that the time to chart your true path is long overdue.

It’s difficult to change because one has become settled in the known and is not keen on change that upsets your equilibrium however, sometimes you have to heed that inner call, you have to let go in order to gain better control.

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Rhyme for no reason – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

I chose to have a little fun with the prompt ‘Rhyme & Reason,’ that Ronovan gave us for this week’s haiku. We need no reason to make a rhyme and sometimes I don’t follow any rules of poetry and write a free flow.

A man from Thyme loved to rhyme
during Summer season, for unknown reasons.
He played the pipe, he hummed and mimed,
he danced a jig and earned some dimes.

Sometimes I make some silly rhymes
for absolutely no real reason,
just for fun and a smile.

Sometimes I write deep, emotive rhymes
to express my inner thoughts
and expose how my mind reasons.

Sweet Dates…Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

Oh! My dates! I smiled when I saw the prompt ‘dates,’ that Linda gave us for SOCs. How apt! It’s as if she knew that I had some homemade date juice last night – I’ll share the recipe in another post tomorrow – and now I hasten to finish my blog posts, respond to comments, read some blog posts and get ready for my date night with my one and only Dear Himself, my main Boo-Gatti 😉socsbadge2016-17

I need to kick up my dancing heels a wee bit and having young children means that date nights for just the two of us are not as often as they should be. However, to keep stoking the embers of our 16year old romance, we get to squeeze a candlelit, stare into your eyes mushy stuff now and again.

On the other hand, I also try to construct cheap and cheerful stay-at-home dates as well.

Enjoy the weekend folks and a sweet date; be it the fruity type or one with yourself, a book and a delicious cup of beverage 🙂

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Mindset – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

This week’s haiku prompt ‘Change & Mind,’ made me think of myself and how my mind seems clogged these days with tons of stuff that I need to do. Our mind is our powerhouse and every change we crave to achieve stems from it. Like is popularly said, change your mind and you change your life.

Our mind is our powerhouse and every change we crave to achieve stems from it. Like is popularly said, change your mind and you change your life.

I have a lot on my mind

that I must attend to,

to achieve the changes that I want.

**

A closed mind

gives little room

for any changes.

When you change your myopic mindset

you are open to affirmations

that will ultimately change your life

Chastity breached – Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge.

harsh_reality[1]

Harsh reality destroys innocence. Jacqueline

Chastity breached;

innocence is stolen;

when no eyes were looking.

Bewildered child-hood;

bore pain of betrayal;

with the mask of innocence.

Beneath multi-layers;

lies an embittered spirit;

deprived of girlhood innocence.

It’s never a comfortable topic to write about the abuse of the girl-child and even grown women and an issue most would like to wish away and hide under the veil of humour. Yet, the statistics and spate of abuse and violation of females are horrendous.

A lot of times, violation comes from close quarters. These incidents leave a not so strong female broken, disillusioned, embittered and bearing the burden of guilt and shame. Her silence costs her everything and it takes a lot of grace for a victim to overcome the burden of violation.

Society has not helped by casting silent and even vocal blame on victims, thereby making their burden a lot heavier and their silence more ominous.

All the excuses – Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

Excellent excuses have become expedient to cook up these days in my mind more than anything else. I’ve used the great excuse of Summer vacation as an escapade to slack on my writing project and building my second blog. SoCS badge 2015

Excuses of being busier than my 24 hours have been quite easy to conjure that each day I defer another exercise session for the next day and the next day and the next day while eating all the sugary, buttery popcorns as well as hot-dogs.  Yeesh!! No more excuses!

I won’t lie that I haven’t enjoyed all the exceptional extra-curricular timeouts with the children, but at the same time, I have a little voice nagging in my head and pointing indicting fingers at me. My muses are mad and I won’t be surprised if they choose to pack their bags and go on a long vacation as well to teach me a lesson.

I am trying to examine and extricate my mind from the sluggish bind that it’s been in for a while and make some sensible plan on how to approach my personal projects before the children resume school in a couple of weeks and the mad exhausting rush of a busy life catches on.

Do have an excellent weekend and thank you Linda, for the ‘ex’ prompt. It’s made me say what’s been dancing around on my mind on how to exterminate all the excuses that I’ve latched on to.
