Sharjah Aquarium – Echoes of my neighbourhood

Watching sea life is so satisfying and has a way of relaxing my nerves and calming my mind. As a matter of fact, I am persuaded in my mind to get a small aquarium – hoping the poor fishy will thrive if I do so.

I always try to sneak in a detox outing/walkabout for myself sometime during the busy week. I simply shut down everything and just go to unwind.

My walkabout took me to Sharjah’s Aquarium and marine museum – will share the museum photos later. Emirate of Sharjah is one of the 7 emirates that form the UAE and on a good day without traffic, it’s just forty minutes drive from home.

Lady Lee sends us postcard pretty weekly smiles and sinful online platters to indulge in 🙂

If you would like to participate, the challenge is quite simple and you can find out more about it through this link.

  1. Hi Jacqueline! I feel the same way about sea creatures and tried the aquarium. I killed may fishies I’m sad to say…I would love having a big aquarium nearby to visit. I am about three or four days from an aquarium (that I know of) so, on the special days when you are able to travel forty minutes to visit the fishes enjoy them for me too. Love you!

    • I just feel as if you handed me a treat reading your comments. It’s so good to have you. It’s just wonderful watching the fishes and the quiet flow of the water. Almost hypnotic. My fear of getting a little aqua life is just that they might die. That wouldn’t be funny.

      • No it’s sad…I killed Sam Big-Eyes Witzemann and my nine and six year old sons at the time, had a very solemn ceremony in the back yard…that was the end of my attempt at an aquarium.:0( It’s good to be back. God Willing, I’ll stick around for awhile.:0)

  2. What a wonderful place …. I simply adore that little seahorse (they are called Hippocampe in French which is one of my favourite words) … do think about getting an aquarium – i had one for many years and i found it the most relaxing of hobbies (though I never came to terms with fishing out the dead ones when they got to the end of their marine life – they were so colourful in life and so white and plaid in death it upset me terribly.

  3. The beauty of this aquarium is undeniable. I remember seeing the tunnel where the fish are on all sides somewhere recently. Of course, I thought if I ever got the chance to go there I’d need an oxygen tank just in case the glass broke. It’s such an amazing marvel. Great photos.
