Hear I Warble…Something New.

I laughed out very loud when I read this prompt, because I have been tinkering around with the voice recorder and I said to myself that WordPress is out to get me 😉

I have no particular reason to cringe at my own voice, other than the fact that I think my voice warbles instead of coming out smoother when I sing, but hey, I gotta love what I have.

So WordPress, the simple truth is that I can live with my voice. What would I do if I don’t like it? Nothing. So I have to love it’s dusky tone and squeeze the best out of my juke box.

I have been working on reading my poetry online, but still haven’t gotten round to doing so even though I have a few recordings of my voice.

In family videos, I am either running around serving everyone else, or laughing so loud that I doubt if I am ever caught looking as cool as cucumber.

So for the voice part here goes.

You be the judge.

The Daily Post Can’t Stand Me.

What do you find more unbearable: watching a video of yourself, or listening to a recording of your voice? Why?

    1. It might have to do with which browser you were using. It wouldn’t play on Firefox, but it did on Chrome. Conversely, Chrome won’t let me “like” a post, but Firefox – no problem.

  1. My voice is babyish and though to me it sounds just fine, when I hear it recorded, it sounds like a baby talking. My husband calls it bird chirping.
I wouldn’t mind watching a video of mine, I think.

      1. Jackie, even his hospital colleagues, nurses and others when they pick up a call from me, hand the phone with a smile and a ” your birdie is calling”.

      1. Lol…from the few comments already in that will not be necessary. My internet connection isn’t greatest where I am now…so that could be it.

  2. Your voice is strong and mellow. It is melodious and warm. I love it. This is a voice I would listen to on an MP3 in my car, on a drive to the lake for a painting session in winter. Brava, Jacqui. Voice of a star. xo

  3. Hi Jackie,

Now I know what you sound like! For some reason, I always imagined that your voice would be slightly deeper than that. 😀

You have a very pleasant voice, it’s gentle and quite melodious. The sort of clear voice that one would like to hear on an audio-book.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Someone once told me that I had a child-like telephone and I refused to believe them. One day I was playing with the video camera on my phone when I played back, burst out laughing. My voice does get quite high-pitched when I am excited.

Watching myself was a little weird though, I saw some mannerisms that I wasn’t even conscious of. Lol

  4. Hello Jackie,

You have a soothing voice, like you received some voice training specifically for audio books and such a voice is perfect for poetry. 🙂

It’s not that I do not like my voice. I just find it weird listening to myself on a recording. The microphone and other techy effects change my voice so much from what I hear when I talk. I feel the gadgets make my voice deeper.

Some people that watch my videos on Youtube tell me that I have a “friendly” and “happy” voice. My husband keeps reminding me that he fell in love with my voice because we spoke on the phone before our first meeting. What do you expect from a smitten man? Hehehe But yes, all those feedbacks have made me become more comfortable with listening to my recorded voice.

It’s great to stumble on your nice blog. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do!

    1. Hello Flowers, it’s good to meet you. Thank you very much for your kind words. The funny thing is that I have been telling myself that I have to go for voice training when I am ready to do audio books and now you pay me such a lovely compliment. I think we are naturally harder on ourselves and if your husband fell in love with your voice then you should believe him 😊

      1. Ah so the comment posted, I got two 404 error messages after I tried posting twice so I went away hoping to come back another day.

No problems about the auto-correct, at least we can rejoice that it called me something nice. 😀

        Thanks for the warm welcome.
