Tweeting on my mind.. HELP

Hello neighbor,

Pretty please with big moon eyes, can someone/anyone kindly help me break down information in respect of Twitter?

Like the basics for a dummy learner πŸ˜‰

I have a twitter handle quite alright. I have some followers and I follow others but honestly speaking for the life of me, I really don’t understand how it all works and what tweeting etiquette is (if such exists).

I tried to self educate but the information overload is so much…..

With a cherry on top please πŸ™‚
Thank you and I love you back too.

Regards

Jacqueline

  1. Okey now I understand what you are talking about.
Well maybe some people don’t know how to use it correctly or they don’t know how to use it in the better way. Am I right? not exactly?

  2. I’m just happy I’m not the only one! Your characters are limited so you have to use internet lingo and purposely spell everything completely wrong (small pet peeve of mine). I think of it as…the Tumblr version of Facebook; the Micro blogging: blogging, Micro social networking: social networking. I just use it to post links to my flimsy blog.

  3. Twitter is an interesting platform.
A micro blogging sphere where you interact with people in short words.
I have been an active user but it requires time and consistency.
Follow bloggers, writers, news hub, or whatever that catches your fancy.
Follow people back. Retweet , favorite and reply. This 3 activities bring audience and interaction.

    1. Thank you very much for the synopsis. They tweets just flood my phone in seconds that I can barely think before a barrage of tweets come in. I will put this advise into practice. Retweet, favorite and reply, retweet, favorite and reply, retweet, favorite and reply (almost sounds like my new anthem) please tell me to stop.. Thank you very much πŸ™‚

  4. Honestly I have no idea how I ended up here but I figured hey let me leave these here my two cents;
Twitter, it is like being in a room and everyone is talking at the same time and then you add your voice, actually no its like an ocean full of messages in bottles, and you write your own message in a bottle and you throw it, in the twitter ocean and hope someone reads it, yep that more like captures it
So if you read other people’s then other people are likely to read yours or follow you, some people just buy followers, I guess if people want something badly enough someone will be willing to sell it, demand and supply hey.

Rules and etiquette hmmmm they are more like guidelines like when you tweet you can add a hashtag or search via a hashtag for similar tweets e.g. #amwriting #amediting and you will instantly find search results from people writing, oh my personal fave #VSS which is very short stories.
I guess the major thing you gain from twitter is learning brevity of expression, 140 characters stops you from rambling.
Tweet, Retweet, Favourite, Reply thats a good start and following back those who follow you (but not everyone some accounts are just computer generated spam a quick check at what they post is good guide to see if they humans or not lol)

Oh yeah you can also create lists to help you manage your newsfeed so you can group up your family, friends, bloggies, networks, misc that way the tweets dont just barrage (interesting word that) your screen
you dont have to respond to each and every tweet you see, only that which you fancy its ok to be selfish hahahaha

hope this is of some help cheers, happy tweeting
    ~B

  6. I would have never known you were having problems…you seem like a pro! You’ve gotten a lot of good advice already that I’m sure will also help others having a difficult time figuring it out. I’m not sure how long you’ve been on twitter, but I think you’re doing great thus far. All of these different social media sites can be a bit overwhelming.

      1. Let me know if there’s anything specific I can help you with!! I’ve been on Twitter for awhile but I don’t visit the site everyday. I set my blog posts to automatically tweet everyday and you can do the same if you’d like. Just continue looking around and getting your feet wet, you’re doing awesome thus far.

  7. Short statements about topics of interest to you, your Twitter friends, and the public. I have an account, but don’t post often in it. I just started using it again. I want to include it I with my blogging. Maybe a note about one of your short stories and the website link would do.
