Me, Myself and I…..

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “From the Top.”

If you had the chance to be reborn, would you choose to return as your present self, or would opt for a fresh start?

the-gifts-of-imperfection-quoteWhy would I want to do that, if I may ask?

To change and become who or what?

A dribble nosed tiny tot, suckling and gurgling without a care in the World?

A terrifying whiny toddler that drove her parents crazy and singed the cat’s tail?

A gangling unsure teenager, riddled with acne and all? Not sure if I liked the boy’s or hated them all?

A cocky twenty-something know it all? With lots of broken pieces of my heart to patch?

Nah! I think I shall pass on this ostentatious offer!

It has been a hard journey to get to this point of self-love,

A place where I found love for me, myself and I, past, warts, accidents and all.

I am not enthused at such an idea!

I have no energy to invest in such!

I love me as I am now!

Let’s leave it that way! Thank you for the offer but I pass!

  3. Ok…I have to say it….you are the Michael Jordan of writing. I couldn’t insult your work if I wanted to. You would make an excellent writing mentor…if you ever had time AND could put all of your creative juices on pause long enough to focus on the student lol

    1. Hmm! Lovely compliment. This comes at the heels of someone else (a gentleman) asking me to teach him how to write. I am contemplating how to go about that. It would be lovely to help someone. It is something that I would love to do. I used to help vet peoples’ materials at work before they sent them out to their bosses or wherever they wanted to send them to and I loved doing it 🙂

  4. As always, so beautifully written:) Being in love with you now, at the present time, is essential to having a life filled with it (love). Not looking at the past, which can’t be changed, or the future, which is not promised to us, but at what we currently have and spread that love with the time we have now.

    1. 🙂 🙂 Looking at a door that can never reopen – that’s what looking at the past is and the future does not lie in my hands, so it is best to live in the moment and make the best of it. Experience has bitten me enough to know 🙂 I love you too Nena. Your fresh outlook and sunny demeanor is unfailing heartwarming. Have a beautiful weekend 🙂

  5. I do wish I could have my time again, to be able to make different choices in the hope of a better outcome, but I also have to agree with you. I mean, I have no idea if I’d be any happier if I did things differently, I would probably wish for a warm office instead of having to pull gumboots on to collect the eggs in the rain! the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
