Life’s Blessings…Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Challenge

When I saw this week’s prompt ‘beautiful & curse,’ by Ronovan, I smiled. Easier than the past two weeks. What I wanted to write sprouted so fast in my mind.

LIfe Quotes, Haiku, Life is Beautiful

Life is so beautiful and a blessing,
that to ignore those blessings,
is walking blindly and inevitably a curse.

Warble, Warble…Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge

Ronovan’s prompt for this week’s haiku ‘chagrin & joy’ was a bit tricky. My thoughts were a bit garbled like Joy’s own, but I managed to get it together 🙂

To Joy’s chagrin,
only a croaky warble escaped;
she couldn’t sing.

The audience stared,
the room silent in anticipation
Joy’s discomposure doubled.

The Fowls Buttocks…

When I saw Ronovan’s prompt for this weeks’ haiku ‘ Breeze & Blow’  an immediate chuckle escaped my lips. My mind automatically transported itself to an Igbo adage that is often used back home.

The adage signifies a general truth that whatever is hidden will certainly come to light with time.

We’ve got a certain silly saying that;

when the steady breeze blows

we will see the fowls exposed buttock.

Don’t Get it Twisted!

When I saw the haiku prompt ‘twist & shout’ I first thought of dancing, then another seed of thought planted itself in my mind and I went with it.

Misunderstanding, Half-truth

There’s no need to shout,

or getting your panties in a twist.

You got it all wrong!

The King and I

When I saw Ronovan’s haiku prompt for this week, ‘King & Day’  I couldn’t resist being naughty and poking fun at a certain ‘King of The Free World.’

Forgive me 😉

Should the arrogant naked King and I
spend a jolly day together
I would tell him ‘you are ignorant.’

The King would probably be so mad
yelling ‘off with her head,’
‘cos he hates the truth any day.

Swelter… Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Challenge

For a change, the UAE weather in the past week’s has been cool and almost chilly enough to wear my boots and sweaters. I am loving it and wish the heat will not appear too soon. On that note, for Ronovan’s weekly haiku challenge prompt ‘Sweat & Heat’ I offer below:

1-35

Let’s enjoy the present UAE cool weather

 before its’ notorious heat reappears,

and we get all hot and bothered.

Under the sweltering heat of Middle-East sun,

the labourers sweat profusely,

gulping gallons of lifesaving water each day.

Evergreen…

On this valentine’s day and with Ronovan’s haiku prompt ‘eye & fade,‘ my thoughts drift to my dad.

He would have called me by his special name for me just to say happy valentine and to ask after his grandchildren. I miss him sorely.

Though I haven’t set eyes on you

in three long, painful years,

my hearts memories of you never fade.
