Jacqueline at http://www.Acookingpotandtwistedtales.com

Jacqueline and I invite you to join in on our blogging event called The Writer’s Quote Challenge. We have decided to pick up the baton that Colleen and Ronovan have handed off.

Since today is Thanksgiving Day, I thought it appropriate for this week’s prompt to be a quote from a great American about the idea of Thanksgiving:

thoreau

We are continuing the same format and here that is: there are no rules to follow. Either make up your own sayings  or use a quote from a famous author that you find gives you inspiration.

Each Thursday, we will post the prompt and all you have to do is participate!

On your own blog post do a pingback to this post and make sure to “like” or “comment” on everyone else’s post. A pingback is when you embed (or copy) the URL of my weekly…

Making Little Magic…

Our entire existence is magic.

When we wake up to a new morning, that’s magic.

When we watch the sun rise and set that is magic.

When we watch the beauty of nature, that is magic.

When we watch a beautiful flower bloom, that is magic.

When we listen to the chuckle and happy gurgle of a little child, that is magic.

To Love is Magic. It softens your heart to show kindness to others.

To Love is Magic, it makes you sensitive to others who form part of human existence.

Love is Magic because nothing transforms us like love and God is Love.

Dissociative Identity Disorder: Anger and Shame

There are posts that I read now and again and I’m at such loss to express my thoughts which is a rarity.

When we first start out…

“When we start out on a journey, we have no idea where our footsteps will lead us, but if we keep placing one foot after the other with hope and an open mind we’ll find many rewards along the way and know that the only impossible move is that step which we’ve not taken.” Jacqueline

Two days ago, I saw that the bloggers who follow to read my blog had reached 2,000 bloggers (not adding other subscribers), I was and still remain amazed. When I set out on this blogging journey on May 6th of 2015 with zero follows, believe me, when I say that not only was I not sure (not that I’m still sure of what I’m doing) of myself as a blogger, I never even fathomed that anyone would be that keen to bother with my blog.Image result for image quotes thank you

In all honesty, I had no idea what blogging meant until I started this journey. All I knew was and still remains my desire to write, to enhance my writing platform and to connect with those who are mad about writing like me. This is not just a gimmick for me but one of my life’s essence. I breathe through my writing and the occasional speeches that I give out there.

To every single one of you who has stuck with me, through my moaning and laughter days in the blogosphere, I thank you. I appreciate all the Award nominations from all the awesome bloggers who generously think of me – I stopped writing award posts because they are just too many and would prefer that upcoming bloggers receive such encouragement.

I can’t undermine the boost your support has given me in this place. Many of you feel like family to me and I am truly glad that I started this journey otherwise, I would never have met you.

I keep thinking of how to build a better blogging community in my own little way especially with the huge number of blogs out there and I’ll be sending out a link shortly on the BLOGGERS JUNCTION – AUTHOR STOP Directory that I’m setting up. I hope you’ll add your URL and a synopsis about your blog to the Directory.

I’ve turned this post into one post for a two-fold purpose – my weekly appreciation post and thank you to all the awesome bloggers around me.

Thank you ever so much and remain blessed.

Jacqueline

There are several gratitude/thankful platforms in the blogosphere that you can tune into and get your ithankful going on. I can’t express in words the enormity of Joy and fulfilment that comes from having a heart of gratitude. Please check out Maria’s blog, Colline’s blog and Bernadette’s for thankful/gratitude challenges.

5 Causes of Depression

Excellent information on Depression and Diabetes. Have a read.

Anna's avatar

In my previous post, I have covered an overview of depression.  Here I will discuss what causes this beast.

sept-11-depression-from-pexels

1.   Depression can be genetic, although the exact gene causing it is presently unknown. If you have a family member with depression, you’re more likely to experience it, too.  This however might be hard to tell as clinical depression was formally recognized in the U.S. around 1970s.  Prior to that, it was known as melancholy, therefore undiagnosed.  It could have been misdiagnosed for a multitude of other reasons, especially in the old days.

2.   Depression can be triggered by imbalance of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.  Why this is happening, remains a mystery and is not fully understood.  Antidepressant medications work to balance these neurotransmitters, mainly serotonin.

3.   Hormonal changes certainly play a role in developing depression.  Generally, depression is more common in women than in men…

The Edges…

I love normal adventures

and not the perilous ventures

of living life on the edge.

Some enjoy walking on eggshells

or dangling at the edge of a precipice

I love to keep away from the ledge.

The Pink Door – A Click A Day.

The bright and shiny pink door beckoned to me to step inside. Of course, I had to satisfy my curiousity and took a peek.

Everything inside is pretty, shiny and smells good too and would possibly dent my account. I solidly resisted the whispered encouragements of the bottles of Arabian night perfumes and walked away with my plastic intact 😉
