The Passport – Friday fiction in five sentences.

He was tired and dreaded going home.

Each day was worse than the day before, as her tyranny seemed to graduate a notch per day.

Nothing he did was good enough and she had practically turned him into her slave – working and handing over his earnings to her, cooking, cleaning and serving her hand and foot, yet she whined.

Each time she threatened to call the immigration on him.

Each time he wondered if the price he was paying was worth the passport he hoped to get through this hellish marriage, since their love had flown out of the window.

To go or not to go? Friday fiction in five sentences.

Her heart jumped in excitement and trepidation as she read the letter over and over again.

In her hands lay a new opportunity offered by her office, to take up a more exciting job in another location.

Her thoughts were divided on what the implications of relocation would mean.

It would be a big test on her five-year-old relationship with David.

Sara had thought that moving in with David was a good idea that would naturally gravitate towards getting married and starting a family, but getting married didn’t seem to suit David’s plans; maybe it’s time for her to go.

The wanting…Friday fiction in five sentences.

She was just tired of being rejected and tired of feeling hungry. No one wanted to employ a disturbed woman, no job lasted long enough.

She was tired of living and feeling like a slob and simply wanted to feel good and look good like everyone else.

The handout that she received was barely anything to get by, that the thought of living and walking the streets began to look appealing, but she needed the right clothes to attract customers.

Stepping into the changing stall, she layered up on several items of the boutiques clothing and headed for the exit.

The shrill beep of the alarm sent the security scurrying forward as they matched her into a room for further investigation.

A little too late…Friday fiction in five sentences.

He was so mad he couldn’t wait to teach both of them a lesson or twenty.

Furiously he swerved round the bend and simultaneously picked up his phone and took a second look at the incriminating picture.

In split seconds, he failed to see the puppy, the boy, and the mother…

Slammed brakes, screeching tires, a dogs yelp, the mixed cries of boy and mother as they watch their beloved Sandy struggle…

…The angry haze lifted from Tony’s eyes.

The hamper of goodies…Friday fiction in five sentences.

The ding-dong of the doorbell sounded loud in the silent, dim house.

Ginger and her owner opened the door, met no one but a wicker hamper with goodies; a bottle of red, a thick slab of ham, some fruitcake, pecan pie and a card that simply said ‘thank you.’

Ms. Penelope always thought highly of herself and felt gratified that someone had finally come to their good sense to appreciate her neighbourly attitude. She forgot that five minutes ago she sat in the dark in her house stewing over the din coming from the neighbours who were obviously having a swell party without inviting her. She had been contemplating calling the police before the bell rang.

She forgot that she was the neighbourhood’s reliable gossip, all seeing eye busy-body who had observed the licentious shenanigans going on in the home of the Stottgard’s now ex’s.

A generous portion of red poured into her chipped mug and a good helping of pie, she wondered again what the O’hilley’s were up to with the plumber visiting Mrs O’hilley ever so often. That’s a riddle that no one has an answer to, because, since the night of the party, Ms Penelope hasn’t been seen puttering around other people’s business, but her poor Tabby has been heard crying late into the nights.

Blood work…Friday fiction in five sentences.

Blood, Vial, Analysis, Laboratory, Test, Medical

Felicia’s grip on the phone was so tight that anyone could see the outlined streak of the veins on her hand.

She stuttered in disbelief as she slowly sat down. Her legs had gone all weak at the knees.

Maybe you should come to the hospital Mrs. Vienna and talk to Dr. Patul. Would you like me to book a date?” The nurses droning voice continued at the other end.

Her mind whirred in tumult. How could the results come back negative? She felt so sure that Pete’s bloodwork was a mere formality. He would be a perfect match and donor for his twin brother Paul.

Now the result says the brothers are not twins, as a matter of fact, technically they are not brothers. What went wrong? She just couldn’t make sense of it all. This is all confusing…

Curtain Call….Friday Fiction in Five Sentences.

creative-writing-1041597_1280

The cast takes a bow to the standing ovation of a delighted crowd for the brilliant performance of The Sweet Fairy.

Poppy flushes in excitement and pride. Her heart swells from the euphoric dopamine of being a lead for the very first time.

It’s an experience she wants to have over and over again.

For the very first time in her twelve years as an actor on Broadway, she get’s to be a lead.

No more supporting acts she vows silently to herself, her mind racing on how to continue ensuring that Loretta remains incapacitated with illness.

Out of the silent breath

The air is so crispy

The birds are quite chirpy

The magic of nature abounds

As I imbibe all the sounds.

The Vicar’s Secret…

Wedding, People, Church, Nuptials, Event, Heart, Grooms

The Vicar looked ill. He looked more like a man facing the guillotine than one who was performing the rites of matrimony. His heart hurt as he faced the couple. She looked as beautiful as ever, and he wondered how he would keep up with serving the parish and listen to her sweet singing voice in the choir.

He would have preferred to avoid being here, he could have asked for a replacement with a preposterous excuse – in fact, it wouldn’t have been an excuse that he had the runs – yet his sense of preservation deserted him.

His lips were dry, his stomach churned and his voice croaked and squeaked at the same time as he asked the question “If anyone has a reason for these two not to wed, speak now or forever hold your peace.”

The air in the chapel shrunk in silence. No one expected an answer to a question that was simply a formality and all the heads swung in the direction of the back pew from where a voice had said an emphatic yes.

The old groundskeeper stood. Nodding to the Vicar, he said in his booming and gentle voice ”my boy, don’t you think you’ve got something to say to the congregation?”

Picnic in the parlour…Friday Fiction In Five Sentences

Angela looks out of the window in delight at the fair weather, the Sun’s rays wink from beneath the clouds.

Ah! Finally, a beautiful day to frolic, riding bicycles and having a picnic in the park.

It’s a good day today, she hums to herself, rousing the boys from their computer games to assemble the items for an outdoor foray.

The rumble of Thunder, gives pause to her delight and true to type, the fickle weather has changed it’s mind.

We shall just have to have this picnic in the living room she mutters in deflation.

Heartache…Friday fiction in five sentences.

1457668922602[1]

Bowed down, she sobbed in pain as his words cut through her heart and ripped it into little bits.

I am sorry, but it’s over he said.

Was it something I did she asked brokenly.

No, it’s not you. It’s just that I need some space to sort out stuff and I am just not feeling it anymore. He chose the location because he knew that she did not like confrontation and he wanted a quick way out.

The anger surged in her like a fiery ball of fire. All the wasted years of empty promises and he now decides he’s not feeling it. Well, it’s not going to be a quick sprint in the park. She rose like a maddened Tigress, picked up the vase on the table and emptied it’s watery content over his head. She gave him a resounding thwack with her bag and marched off in fury.
