Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Sihouette’s

This week’s prompt ‘top and light’ from Ronovan gave me an opportunity to try different story lines and I settled for these two eventually.

She knows he’s at home.
Light streams out of his apartment window
that’s on the top floor

Looking up as she dials
she sees his silhouette in the light
and another without her top

Thoughts race through her mind
like light, they flit by so fast
who’s the other topless lady?

**

I crawled to the top

of the dark, dingy and scary pit

into the brightest of lights.

From the very first poem, “Dreams,” this book captivates with passionate and perceptive words. Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha captures a broad expanse of the human experience in this book of richly layered poems.

Unforgettable…

This week Ronovan has given us ‘flag and fallen’ to use in honour of Prince for his weekly haiku challenge.  Here’s my take:

Momentous memories flag through minds
listening to eclectic, musical and Princely chords
of a fallen, unforgettable Star.

Vanderbilt’s Quest…Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

Ron’s haiku prompt rein/quest’ for this week gave me some pause. It wasn’t a swift ride like you would think, but I enjoyed the scribbling and tearing of paper that filled my waste basket 😉

Dragon, Bone, Fantasy, Sunset, Mystical

It was a quest for the brave.
Vanderbilt tugged his steed’s rein,
and set off for the dragon’s lair.

The quest’s trail was precarious and slippery
he guided his horse cautiously
gripping the wet reins with firm hands.

The quest is successful, dragon is defeated
a happy Princess is rescued,
Vanderbilt holds the reins to her heart.

Magic abounds…Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge

I love the glitter ‘magic and glimmer’ that we are offered for this week’s Ronovan’s Haiku.

Twin, Sisters, Love, Girls, Blue Eyes, Beauty

The children’s laughter sounds magical
the glimmer of their glow sticks
twinkles in the bright rays of Sun

****

She watches them from the kitchen window
her eyes glimmer with tears
heart-filled with life’s wondrous magic that abounds

****

They were mere glimmers of yesterday’s hope
like dreams conjured from magic
gorgeous twins to love in a swoop.

Cosy up!…Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

I like rain, but not lightning. It still scares me especially when it crackles fiercely, though I wear my big mama panties, grit my teeth and pretend to my children that I ain’t scared. I prefer to be ensconced in my warm abode during such weather. Preferably, with a mug of warm cocoa or tea and some biscuits.

When possible, I always prefer to be ensconced in my warm abode during such weather. Preferably, with a mug of warm cocoa or tea and some biscuits.

Now Ronovan’s prompt makes me hungry and desirous of some gentle rainfall.

Huddling in bed under my cosy duvet

I enjoy a blissful read

forgetting the fierce lightning and heavy rain.

Out of the silent breath

Brand me whole as only you can

That the entire score of me

Knows nothing but the fullness of you.

Flawless…

I certainly like the glitter Ronovan scattered on our path this week. Life’s too short not to have some bling in it 😉

She’s a diamond of the first water.

Even the older ladies admired

her flawless, pearl smooth and glowing skin

—-

Clear cut carats of real diamonds sparkled

on her gold based crown

mixed with countless mother of pearl seeds.

Tales By Moonlight…

I like this week’s Haiku prompt ‘ Sun & Moon,’ from Ronovan. What do you think?

Hair like silk spun gold

She had him enthralled with her looks

Singing under the glowing moonlight.

*****

Limpid pools of her eyes

Beckoned to him like the mysterious moon

Twinkling like glints of sun rays.

*****

He bought her precious jewels

That shone bright like the golden Sun

And proposed beneath the moonbeams.

Racy Path…

This week’s haiku prompt ‘life & path’ is sweet. Thank you Ronovan 🙂

Banner, Header, Man, Silhouette, Businessman, Briefcase

A racy life

On a crooked path

Destroys the runner.

—–

He ran for his life

But the path was a bit dark

He stumbled and he fell.

—–

On the walk through life

There are stumbling blocks in our path

We fall and we rise.

Exposed rumps…Ronovan writes weekly poetry haiku challenge

Phew! Ronovan gave us a pair  of tough nuts to deal with this week ‘fray and veiled.’

Here’s my little take on it below.

The veiled nun admonished in soft tones.
The ladies wore skimpy skirts,
Too short, fray edges, and rumps exposed!

A Flash Dance…Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Poetry Challenge.

Ronovan knows how to pick the words. For this week, we got ‘Flash & Dance.’ I enjoy this Haiku challenge and I am glad I took it up. Thank you kind Sir 🙂

The flash of lissome thighs
As her skirt flounced with the dance
Set his spirits on high

************

His flash of false teeth
And his toupee that flew with his twist
Made her dance steps falter.
