I am who I am for a beautiful reason. I am not a mistake. My experiences: the good, the bad and the downright ugly all culminate to shape me into this unique and awesome human made in God’s image.
Every single one of us has had varied experiences that have a significant effect on who we are. The most important aspect of any experience is not so much in the experience itself but in the meaning that we assign to these experiences. What stories do we inadvertently tell ourselves based off these experiences? These underlined internal stories shape us, shape our future decisions and how we interact with others.
Some allow their ugly experiences to rule over how they perceive themselves for the rest of their lives. A lot of times this internal perception reads ‘I am not good enough,’ I’m not beautiful enough, I’m less than.’ This is a huge disservice to yourself. You should never forget that one or two sorry experiences don’t detract from the beautiful person that you are.
We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it – and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove-lid again – and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore. ~Mark Twain

Each of us appeals to some people, and not to others. Having been in both groups, I can only say- Carry on.
