Her sharp retort was tart;
it utterly belied her gentle, sweet demeanour
and took him by surprise.
♦
Beneath her tart looking appearance
lies a sweet, confused and misunderstood soul
all she seeks is love.

Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge – Sing & Peace
This week’s haiku prompt ‘Pleasure & Excite’ gave me several options and pleasure to write 🙂
Life offers opportunities that excite,
sometimes it’s pleasure and sometimes it’s pain,
we simply roll with it.
Her heart went ba-dah-bum,
his warm touch and engaging smile excite her,
loving him her secret pleasure.
Thoughts of the baby excite them
they think of names for their bundle
conceived in love and pleasure.
Ronovan’s prompt ‘shell & coast,’ tunes into my thoughts of waiting for the weather to improve so we can go off to the beachside and wallow lazily.

Lovely prompt ‘hope & stay,’ from Ronovan for this week’s haiku. I came up with several versions and settled for these two.
Stay. Hope whispered to me.
You will be there sooner than expected.
See how far you’ve come.
Don’t lose hope.
Just stay committed and focused,
you will triumph.

When I saw Ronovan’s prompt for this week’s haiku ‘painted & lady’ I chuckled, wondering what prompted his train of thought.
These days, I marvel at how much time some ladies spend painting and brushing and painting some more. It just seems too exhausting taking all that time applying layers and layers of makeup that one would wash off at the end of the day. Just a little dab should suffice.
The lady wears heavy makeup
I wonder if she recognizes herself anymore
beneath her bright painted mask.

A cheerful prompt ‘Party & Enjoy,’ for this week’s haiku from Ronovan. Many haikus silly haikus came to mind, but I settled on these ones.
Cosy party for me and I,
lazy couch, books, cookies, music to enjoy,
now that is just divine.
He is such a mooch
and a known party pooper to boot
nothing to enjoy around him

Fate hands us many burdens.
It’s how we carry on with them
that makes or breaks us.
You make your burden light,
or you make it heavier than necessary
your fate lies with you.

She gathers beautiful pink seashells,
in recollection of the days you lived,
and how you loved them.
