The big old grandfathers’ clock struck midnight
The witching hour crept by
hearts raced under the blanket in terror.

A distant howl tore into the silent night
the creepy crawlies salivated greedily
racing to plant their fangs’ in frenzy.

Love – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge

When I saw Ronovans’ prompt for this week’s haiku, ‘heart and petals,’ my romantic thoughts drifted to love. I am a die-hard romantic realist – whatever that means. Ha, ha 😉

Heart-shaped petals

honeymoon is underway.

You laid petals for me,
my heart you captured
with actions of pure love.

Wild Hunter – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge

An exciting pair of words ‘Hunter & Moon,’ from Ronovan for our weekly haiku. Do you take part in any haiku challenge? Give it a thought.

The wild hunter’s blood thrummed;
he sensed her presence from miles away,
it’s a full moon tonight.

Don’t Give Up – Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Challenge

Ronovan gives us an interesting pair ‘reward & trial, for this week’s Haiku. Who amongst us hasn’t gone through trying moments and also experienced the elation of rewards for sticking to it till the end? That’s the story of life.

Without trials, there’s no triumph
without labour, no rewards
they go hand in hand.

Rewards gained from your labour
is the sweet success that follows
your tedious trials and tribulations.

Don’t give up yet!
For at the end of each trial
comes a just reward.

All Fall Down…Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Challenge

Ronovan gives us a pair of haiku prompts ‘ Home & Leaves,’ that fall into the seasons’ theme. Here’s my take on it.

Nothing satisfies me like a beautiful evening,

seated at home sipping tea;

watching the leaves wave in the wind.

Now the leaves all come falling down,

tapestry in rustic brown mounds;

nature decorating the yards of many homes.

Homeowners may sometimes feel tired and grumpy,

having to gather endless heaps

of leaves, that continue to fall down.

P.S. We’ll be having our monthly blog party 1st – 2nd of October. I’ll keep you posted.

Enchanted…Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

We receive a lovely pair of words “Magic & Stars” for this weeks’ Haiku. Here’s my take on it.

She listened in delight and rapt attention
eyes shone like little stars
as daddy told magical tales of far-away.

Yay! Soon it will be beach time – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge

Well, I must say that Ronovan’s prompt ‘beach & time,’ anticipates some good time in the near future with me. The weather over here has been sweltering, hopefully, we should see a turn to cooler climes in a few weeks.

Soon the weather will be cooler here
then we get to indulge,
and spend some time at the beach.

Book, beach bag, towels, ball, sunglasses & all,
we frolick in the sand
and it’s always a time well spent.

Riverstone…Ronovan writes haiku weekly challenge

For some reason, the pair of words ‘River & Stone’ that Ronovan gave us for this weeks’ haiku brings thoughts of possibilities to my mind.

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Rhyme for no reason – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

I chose to have a little fun with the prompt ‘Rhyme & Reason,’ that Ronovan gave us for this week’s haiku. We need no reason to make a rhyme and sometimes I don’t follow any rules of poetry and write a free flow.

A man from Thyme loved to rhyme
during Summer season, for unknown reasons.
He played the pipe, he hummed and mimed,
he danced a jig and earned some dimes.

Sometimes I make some silly rhymes
for absolutely no real reason,
just for fun and a smile.

Sometimes I write deep, emotive rhymes
to express my inner thoughts
and expose how my mind reasons.
