Life REsolutions…Stream of Consciousness Saturday

I am resolved to stop having any highfalutin new year resolutions but to simply slam the door to an ending year, to open the cover of life each day in the new year and immerse myself fully in its pages.

Of course, I always set goals for myself and I have a backlog of goals that I would love to achieve and working out in my head which new projects to focus on. I’m not ashamed to say that most of those goals are following me from 2017 to 2018. I used to go on a guilt-trip and whip myself hard when I set resolutions and failed to achieve them till I realized that I was doing myself more harm than good. Ever since I started my journey to a better me, my perspective shifted and I’m happier for it.

2017 has been an eventful year for most of us and I am glad that we survived it. ‘Survived’ is the key word here. Life is beautiful, but also unpredictable. I started 2017 on a high note and ended somewhat on ‘meh and bleh’ note, however, it doesn’t take away my enthusiasm that 2018 will be filled with an abundance of grace, blessings and mercy for us.

Here’s to better life (re)solutions and a joy-filled 2018.

On another note, I’ve totally missed writing my SoCS posts, time kept running away with me, but I hope that changes soon enough.

  1. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I stopped making resolutions years ago. None of them ever came to pass.
My two main goals for 2018 are to retire and find a cheaper place to live.
Last year I did have some travel goals but I realized quickly that they were unrealistic. Also I was upset and frustrated. So I dumped my travel plans for 2018. If it happens it happens. Whatever is meant to be will be.

    1. Happy New Year to you, Steven and your fur baby. I totally get you as per the resolutions thing. I equally find it frustrating to set resolutions only for it not to come to pass, so I simply work on my daily, weekly, monthly goals and let the lines fall where they will. Sometimes, I surprise myself and that gives me absolutely more pleasure and takes away the pressure of the mindless pursuit of certain resolutions. I’ve found that living in full presence of each day and giving it my best actually brings me far closer to the things that I want to achieve.

      1. Stephen and I Thank you.
Just an observation but the stuff I struggled with didn’t happen whereas things that I just let relax and flow did come to pass. So for 2018 I shall continue to go with the flow and take advantage of opportunities that appear.

  2. Happy New Year!
I agree about resolutions. It’s good to have things to strive for but not that make you feel guilty if you don’t attain them.
Look forward to seeing more Posts by you in the New Year

  5. Great post. I’ve not made a NYR for 30 or more years, but from this point on I will make an exception: to reduce the amount of plastic I buy/use and to be more ‘earth conscious.’
