Everyday People

Diversity no. 1…Every day beautiful people #67

“It’s time for parents to teach young people early on, that in diversity, there’s beauty and there’s strength.” Maya Angelou

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela

The World is made beautiful by its diversity. We must learn to embrace the fact that others are different and have a right to be.

We should never allow the evil antics of misguided few to dictate how we relate as humans.

      1. Yes it is and I don’t understand how anyone could want to live in a non-diverse world. I get that we all have likes and dislikes, even where specific individuals are concerned, yet we don’t have to dislike an entire group of people especially if we know nothing about them.

  1. Nigeria reminds me everyday that there is beauty in diversity and we must learn to accept and love others in spite of our differences because our meeting point is that we are first of all humans. Nice post sis.

  2. How very true, Jacqueline. When my two were young, I took every opportunity to teach them that there are no set rules on how a person ought to be. We are who we are. I taught them that love is between two people, regardless of gender. I taught them to embrace diversity.

  3. No one is born hating another bc of the color of their skin…totally agree. Very nice post. And appropriate. We need these thoughts everyday. Peace to the world.

  4. I will never forget the day we were in the waiting room at the local WIC clinic and my son asked me “Why is that little boy brown?” (he was about 3 at the time.) Without missing a beat I told him “God made people different colors because it makes life more interesting!” Beyond very small cultural differences, we are all the same, we are humans with the same basic needs and desires. We all want to be treated with dignity and shown respect.
