Yesterday, I watched my very dear friend, Ekaete Augustine-Edet run her very first Marathon of 42.195 km in Dubai and that made me so proud.
She flew in from Nigeria with other queens of marathon. These are women who are mothers, wives, workers and all. They are in their late thirties, mid-forties and late forties.
The interesting thing is that most of them only started training several months ago.
What impresses me most is that she wasn’t sure she could do it. She was nervous about it, but she set out to do her best and she did it.
Running 42.195 km for over 4 hours is not a walk in the park. Now that is optimism and determination.
‘Well done Ladies.’
P.S. I didn’t run, but I was there to whistle and cheer them on and of course to take pictures đŸ™‚

How do you fuel the fires of optimism?

Good for those ladies. I am a clutz and I think it must be wonderful to have that kind of physical talent plus the attitude to make it work. I think I’m naturally, optimistic but a realist too. Writing is my favorite way to work through an issue and then end on the brighter note that I need. Woven through that process is faith.

I am totally with you Joy. I love a good workout but running is still out of my radar. I am equally naturally optimistic but try to remain down to earth and like you, writing is my fave thing to do đŸ™‚ I am proud of them. It takes a lot of discipline and fortitude.

Wut wut to them. That is a lot of hardwork and training. But crossing that finishline makes it all worth it.

These ladies are awesome, congratulations to them all on a job well done. I’ve always wanted to do this because we have a similar one at home, but never took the TIME to train. Doing this is a part of life because you have to maintain the balance to allow your body the endurance. Kuddos to you for supporting them as well, we should all be so lucky to have a friend like yourself.

Etta they are really awesome. It was a truly soul inspiring moment for me (though I didn’t run). I think I can do a bit better with my quest for better healthy living. You can do it Etta.

Congratulations to your friends, a half marathon is great but a whole 26 miles is another league altogether.

Sis it’s really in another league of itself. I have respect for these ladies.

They look like it was a walk in the park though. I would look like a caravan traveller who just crossed the Sahara in the 14th century, hehehe :P.
